UNITED ARAB EMIRATES MOSQUES
salat) is performed by rows of men who bow and prostrate themselves under the imam's guidance. All worshippers leave their shoes outside the mosque, before entering. Jumeirah Mosque in Dubai is a particularly attractive mosque to visit, especially as it is lit-up just after sunset. The Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi is still under construction and will be one of the largest mosques in the world when it is finished.
The oldest extant mosque in the Emirates is probably Bidya mosque in Fujairah and is open to visitors. Every community in the Emirates has access to a mosque where Muslims are called to prayer five times a day. The main day of worship is Friday when the main prayer sessions are held at dawn, midday and sunset.
