Birmingham City beat Wolves to sign Scott Dann from Coventry City
Birmingham City have won the race to sign Coventry City’s highly-rated defender Scott Dann.
The Sky Blues had accepted bids of £4 million from Blues and Wolves yesterday and Dann was believed to favour Molineux over a move to St Andrew’s.
The 22-year-old centre-back had looked destined to sign for Mick McCarthy’s men last night but Blues came back in with improved personal terms and Dann has chosen to link up with Alex McLeish instead.
The Blues boss has been a long-time admirer of the England Under-21 international, who moved from Walsall to the Ricoh Arena in January 2008 for an undisclosed fee.
Blues had a player-plus-cash bid, which lined up Gary McSheffrey for a return to his former club, rejected at the end of last week and Coventry made it known that they would consider a cash only offer.
They also slapped a £4million price tag on his head.
