Jake became increasingly disturbed following the death of his wife Becca in prison. He married Becca's younger sister Nancy, but she left him after he attempted to rape her. Jake was put in a psychiatric hospital after he tried to commit suicide and take Becca's son Charlie with him.

Since being put in hospital, Jake agreed to confess to Sean Kennedy's murder as a favour to Justin if he promised to give custody of baby Charlie to Frankie Dean. Since this 'confession', Jake looks set to be put away for a long time...

Kevin's previous TV work included a stint in ITV's Night and Day, before taking the part of Jake Dean.
