Prospective Students – Second Degree Students Admissions

The second degree is an undergraduate degree available to students who have completed a recognized undergraduate degree from SFU or another post-secondary institution. The program can be completed by a well-prepared student in one year (three semesters) of full-time study, but can also be finished through part-time study.

Applicants with baccalaureate degrees in subjects other than computing science or related discipline from recognized universities may be admitted with a minimum average of 2.0 or greater. Lower level writing, quantitative, and breadth requirements will be evaluated and waived where possible during the SFU admission process.

Please note the following before applying to our second degree in Computing Science. If you are a student who has:

  1. A major in a Computing Science or similar discipline, you may not complete a second degree. We encourage you to consider graduate school or to take our Post Baccalaureate Diploma to upgrade your skills in preparation to enter our Master's program. Please consult with an Academic Advisor if you are unsure whether you qualify for a second degree.
  2. A minor in Computing Science, you may apply to be a second degree student in Computing Science.
