United launch centenary strip

GEARED UP! DAVID ROBERTSON (left) and SCOTT ROBERTSON model Dundee United’s new kit at Tannadice today.

It was a mix of present and past at Dundee United today as the Tangerines launched a new-look strip and prepared to open an exhibition celebrating their 100th birthday (writes Tom Duthie).
From next season, United will be wearing kits manufactured by leading supplier Nike and they were on show for the first time at Tannadice at lunchtime.

They are the first of a four-year kit supply deal with Nike that will also see Nike merchandise sold at the club shop.

From the end of the week, it will be run by Nike UK’s professional football club service provider Just Sport Pro Club.

Next season, the kit will include the exclusive centenary logo club badge, which has been embroidered on to the tops in the traditional way.

The strips will be available from Friday, when the shop and on-line facility will be formally re-launched.

Tonight, attention will switch to Dundee’s Central Library where chairman Stephen Thompson will open a centenary exhibition dedicated to the club.

Running until July 11, the exhibition will be open to the public from tomorrow morning.
