Wranglers Advance to Conference Finals

The Las Vegas Wranglers® (8-6) defeated  the Stockton Thunder (7-7) 5-1 in Game 7 of the Pacific Division Finals in front of 3,282 fans at the Orleans Arena on Wednesday night. With the win, the Wranglers advance to the National Conference Finals to play the Alaska Aces. Wranglers’ goalie Glenn Fisher made 41 saves as the Wranglers win the best of seven series 4-3. Wranglers forwards Mick Lawrence, Tyler Mosienko, Scott McCulloch, and Chris Neiszner each scored for Las Vegas, improving to 6-2 at home this postseason. Stockton forward Cory Urquhart scored the lone Thunder goal. Thunder goalie Parker Van Buskirk stopped 24 of 28 shots in the loss. Las Vegas will head to Alaska for Game 1 Saturday at 8:15 PM (PDT).

Las Vegas jumped out to an early 1-0 lead with a power-play goal from forward Mick Lawrence. At 4:05, Dan Spang and Tyler Mosienko set up Lawrence’s third goal of the postseason. The Wranglers power play struck again with a goal from forward Tyler Mosienko at 11:26 of the first period. Forward Shawn Limpright zipped a pass to Mosienko, who fired a shot past Thunder goalie Parker Van Buskirk for the 2-0 Las Vegas lead.

In the second period, Las Vegas padded the lead with a late goal from forward Scott McCulloch. McCulloch fired a shot from the left circle at 17:08 to put the Wranglers in front 3-0.

Early in the third period, the Wranglers stretched the lead to 4-0 with a goal from forward Chris Neiszner. Neiszner knocked in a puck at 2:45 of the final period for his third goal of the playoffs. Stockton chipped into the lead at 15:48 with a goal from Cory Urquhart. Urquhart tallied his tenth goal of the postseason to cut the score to 4-1. Wranglers’ defenseman Sean Owens tallied an empty-net goal at 18:09 to seal the 5-1 win.

The Wranglers open up the National Conference Finals in Alaska for Game 1 on Saturday May 9th, and Game 2 Sunday, May 10th at 8:15 PM. Las Vegas will host Games 3 and 4 on Tuesday May 12th, and Thursday May 14th, at 7:30 PM.
