NOM Yanked by Perez

Earlier I posted the new NOM’s ad staring Miss California, Carrie Prejean, but later noticed it was removed. The Youtube message read:

"Video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Mario Lavandeira.”

Mario Lavandeira is Perez Hilton, the celebrity bloggers real name. He had the ad pulled from Youtube because it showed video of himself on the Miss America competition as well as video from his blog, where he called Miss California a “dumb bitch.” Way to go Perez!

Update (2): The Bill Just finished and was passed 21-14. I believe it now goes to the house next week.

Update: 22 Senators just voted against 13 to send the vote to the people in a referendum.

Marriage Equality is coming closer today at least in the state of Maine. The first Senate vote came back in favour of same sex marriage 20-15.

Information can be found here.

Our side has also released a new video dispelling the falsehoods and out right lies in the NOM’s ad. Here it is.

Marriage: New Hampshire

Posted by Alex On 10:21 PM 0 comments
The New Hampshire State Senate voted today to allow gay marriage. The bill passes 13-11 and now has to go to the House. The House has three options; allow the bill to pass, renegotiate, or kill it. The Governor of the New Hampshire John Lynch has said he believes in the original definition of marriage between one man and one women, but hasn’t officially said if he would kill the bill after it goes through the senate or not. Today the governor said:

"I still believe the fundamental issue is about providing the same rights and protections to same-sex couples as are available to heterosexual couples," Lynch said in a statement Wednesday. "This was accomplished through the passage of the civil unions law two years ago. To achieve further real progress, the federal government would need to take action to recognize New Hampshire civil unions."

The bill would still allow churches to legally be able to refuse to marry same sex couples. What the Governor has to realise is that his statement about civil unions being equal in rights, is not true. There are over a thousand rights civil unions don’t give.

In New Jersey the Governor of that state said he would sign a marriage equality bill into law if legislatures put it through the house. Maine and New York are also debating on legislation that would grant same sex marriage equality. Let’s hope these states step up for equality and justice.

Senator Specter Switches Parties

Posted by Alex On 12:46 PM 0 comments
Senator Specter a former Republican switched parties yesterday and joined the Democrat party. His switch gives the Democrats 59 votes, and depending on a court decision could help ending up giving the Democrats 60 votes and a majority in congress. The senator said the Republican Party no longer stood for his beliefs and that they have become too right wing.

I’d also like to bring up something that really bothered me yesterday. I was watching CNN, and Lou Dobbs was on. I regularly don’t like Lou Dobbs anyway, but I noticed something. When Lou Dobbs talked about Specter switching parties, he every time said “defecting”, I don’t see it as a “defect” I see it as a happy occasion, watching the Republican Party die a slow death.

Nine Percent in one Month

Posted by Alex On 2:12 PM 0 comments
CBS has been taking polls monthly asking how many Americans supported Same Sex marriage. Last Month the poll showed that only 33% of Americans supported full Marriage Equality, but the poll taken again this month shows we are winning our equality, with an increase now leaving 42% of Americans supporting same sex marriage. The support is at it’s highest since CBS started taking the polls in 2004.

As usually on this subject Liberals support same sex marriage more then conservatives. Liberals support marriage equality 69%. Conservatives support either civil union (28%) or no recognition (44%). Either way it shows that America is finally waking up to this injustice.

A few weeks ago I made a post about a young twelve year old boy on Youtube called Christianu2uber. I said I was sincerely worried about him. Some people got rather bothered that I said he was immature and bothered, but it was just my opinion. Well I have found out his account has been removed. A blog called Queerty first broke the news. It appears his real name was Scott. He said he used to be gay, but no longer was. He seemed very lost and confused. It is alleged that he after receiving some nasty comments started making threats to other online users. According to the blog, the police even got notified. Let’s hope the kid is finally getting the help he needs and maybe he will have an easier time excepting his homosexuality.

The white house has said that the President is in good health however. If he was to get sick, he should have showed symptoms already. The biggest advice to keep yourself safe is to avoid large public events and to keep your hands washed. I also found out there are six confirmed swine flu cases in Nova Scotia, the Canadian Province next to mine (New Brunswick). There are still not reported cases in my province though.

Glued Anuses

Posted by Alex On 11:34 AM 0 comments
We’ve all heard how the war in Iraq was supposed to liberate the Iraqi people and bring them a new way of democracy and prosperity, but apparently not if you’re a gay Iraqi. I’ve become aware of a horrible new crime against gay Iraqi men. I thought that the new Obama administration would at least think twice about this, considering President Obama just last week condemned homophobia while talking about the holocaust. Then can someone explain to me why the American people are paying billions to an Iraq that partakes in something called “Anal Gluing.”

Yup, it’s exactly what it sounds like. The fact that gay men participate in anal sex is usually what gets most homophobes blood pumping, so they have come up with a way to stop it. While the word is infuriated that the CIA could have tortured terror suspects, no one is stopping to consider this torture. Iraqi militants have begun to “glue” the anuses of gay men shut. This glue is no easily removable glue though, in order for it to be removed, the victim needs surgery, not that they make it that far. After the militants glue the anus shut, they force feed the men chemicals to give them extreme diarrhea. The lack of being able to expel the waste causes a build up of toxins resulting in a slow and extremely painful death. So far at least sixty men have been killed this way. According to local newspapers, there has been a religious crack down on homosexuals resulting in families killing there own relatives to “purify” the family. Video of the torture has been publicized on mobile devices in Iraq. Apparently have a penis in your rear end makes you gay. This has to be stopped.

The world is so beautiful, but today's weather made it so easy to see and understand. Today was the warmest day so far this year. It was in the mid twenty degree area today. There is nothing I find more relaxing then just taking a moment to look at just how amazing the world is. It makes the indifference in the world and all the hate seem to small. Another technique I have learned to bring inner peace is to find a quiet peaceful place and just repeat one soft world. My word is gentle. I actually got the idea from Doctor Gupta, the CNN medial corespondent. It truly does help.

Goodbye Texas

Posted by Alex On 9:02 PM 0 comments
Recently there has been conservative talk in the state of Texas about seceding from the United States. While most speculated it was showboating from a state with outdated and often un-American policies, but at a recent “tea bagging” event the Texas Governor did nothing to stop the rumours and actually increased them with this statement.

“Texas is a unique place. When we came into the Union in 1845, one of the issues was that we would be able to leave if we decided to do that…”

My opinion and I don’t care who it pisses off is, have a nice life. While I won’t make a blanket statement that all Texans are ass backwards and mixed up, there government sure is. In my opinion too many American Presidents have come from Texas, ass backward presidents at that. So while Texas does have its pockets of humility and wonder, the pool is too tainted to filter. This video pretty much sums up how I feel about the Texan government.

I have spent most of today listening online to the joint standing committee on the judiciary listening to the debate on same-sex marriage in the State of Maine. I live in Canada, but as you may be aware I was born in the State of Maine and still live on the border with the State. The debate ran the entire day, but I quickly noticed a pattern. Those opposing, while however they worded it had one common argument to not legalizing same-sex marriage, being religion. As I am writing this, the person is saying his wisdom comes not from him self, but a book called the Bible. He is reading a script about Israel. Through the day I have heard several screaming arguments about how God would send the United States to hell. I even heard someone mention Perez Hilton. A poll on the issue yesterday says the state is split about even for and against. The opposition has called in a couple sleazy experts that say children are not raised well in same-sex relationships. The phrase I heard the most was “protect marriage.” I just hope my birth state stands up for equality and passes the bill. On the marriage equality choice I heard countless stories that brought me to tears. Stories of gay couples not being able to help there partner in time of need. One women told a story of not being able to get the coroner to remove her dead partners body. I just hope equality is given for all.

Don't Forget

Posted by Alex On 8:22 PM 2 comments
I have a new favourite music video. I first saw this video on Much Music at about four in the morning. So emotions high, I almost cried at the end. The song is “Don’t Forget” by Demi Lovato. I’ll be just as fast as the next person to admit that Disney is pumping out new singers following the Miley Cyrus craze, faster than republicans can say “Protecting Marriage.” The song however has caught on with me. Like I said, at the end of the song, when she says the person she is singing about won’t sing along, there is something about her voice that makes me want to cry. Then there is the singing in the rain part, which I just die for. Enjoy!

The New Youtube

Posted by Alex On 7:00 PM 0 comments
Have you heard about the new Youtube? I first heard, about two weeks ago, it was being released. It was supposed to have new tabs that would include full length episodes of some television shows. It was an attempt by Google, the owner of Youtube to bring in more viewers against the looming threat of Hulu, the cross venture of a couple of television networks. Hulu, while I cannot get it in Canada, offers full length episodes of show like the Simpsons. People said that Youtube’s attempt had failed because it only offered older shows apart from “Harper’s Island.” My point though is that I don’t have the new Youtube yet, but I’ve heard of other people who have it. Does anyone know if it is being phased in like the new Facebook was, or will I not get it in Canada?

Sexting

Posted by Alex On 7:19 PM 4 comments

People are screaming like the sky is falling and the media is a buzz. Doctor Phil and Oprah are being flooded with letters and soon they respond with many fact and trouble filled people. No, same sex marriage wasn’t just legalized through the entire nation, that’s no until next week (kidding). What really happened? Parents found out about a new trend called Sexting. On a side note, who exactly coined the term “sexting?” In case you’re not aware what sexting is, it is a dirty form of text messaging. The “sexter” usually sends either sexual pictures or messages to the receiver. It has become a craze among teenagers.

While I do not encourage teens to risk embarrassment or something worse by partaking in this activity, parents and the main stream media are running around like chickens with there heads cut off. Within the past few weeks, I have seen several programs warning of the dangers of sexting. It’s the new “chocking game” in my opinion. I however better understood the out poor of worried parents over the chocking game, but it took years before people started talking about kids chocking themselves to the verge of death and yet it only took months to bring up the sexting craze. It just goes to prove a point, that in the United States, especially along the Bible belt, if it deals with sex, it’s a definite no. A kid killing themselves just doesn’t have that kind of impact to the church congregation.

There has also been another unexpected result of the sexting craze and its related parent freak out. Some teens are now being charged for sexting and having there names placed on the sex offender list. This means a lot of future restriction for these teens, such as employment opportunities and as most kids are more concerned, not being able to legally join facebook. Most of my friends would be greatly bothered by the later to a higher degree.

How about these parents talk to their children rather than running around like there is no tomorrow. Why don’t these parents look back at their own childhood? If it’s not sexting, there has always been something else, from telephone sex to meeting in hotel rooms and there always been. Try what my mother tried, communication.

What I Cannot Change

Posted by Alex On 10:08 PM 2 comments
I am generally not a fan of country music, but there is a song I heard the other day that I would like to share with you. It is by LeAnn Rimes, and is called “What ever I cannot change.” The song has a great meaning of letting go and not being worried about what you cannot change, something I still work on everyday. The song is accompanied by a website where readers can simply post what they want to let go, what they cannot change. On the site LeAnn says that she was going through a very hard time when the lyrics for the song just came pouring from her heart and along with help from her co-writer and friend Darrell Brown they came up with the idea of the website to help other people. LeAnn recently spoke to the Advocate where she said that she reads a lot of post from gay fans. When I looked at the website there was a post from a 49 year old person who says they realise they are gay and that their straight life has been a lie.

So with that said, I make a personal vow:

I will learn to let go:
Of my internal homophobia
Of the anger I still have at my grandparents
Of my fear I have over my body
Of my fear of rejection
Of my fear of loss
Of my social anxiety

And “I will learn to love what I cannot change.”

- LeAnn Rimes Lyrics

Bullying is all too common!

Posted by Alex On 12:56 PM 2 comments
Last week eleven year old Carl Joseph Walker-Hover hung himself with an electrical cord. He was bullied everyday because his class mates thought he was gay. While Carl had never come out as being gay it raises an important issue of homophobic and bullying in general in schools. I wrote to the editor of my local newspaper and though I would share the letter with you.

Letter:

I’m would like to bring an important issue to your awareness. As I hope individuals are aware an eleven year old boy living in the United States named Carl Joseph Walker-Hover recently committed suicide. The grade six student hung himself for his mother to find him with an electrical cord around his neck. In his letter Carl apologised to his mother and explained he could no longer take the bullying he received daily at school.

Carl played sports and volunteered. He even went to church with his mother every week, but that didn’t stop Carl from being tormented for his perceived homosexuality. I hope this letter will bring awareness to the bullying and daily torment in our own school systems. Carl had never even expressed that he might be gay, but his class mates still called him “sissy” and “queer.” I am not sure if parents are aware of how homophobic Charlotte County can be. Being gay in our school systems or even being perceived as being gay could be compared to having a foul disease. Not long ago I was in school and all too often kids anguished that they might be thought to be gay.

The unfortunate part is that just like Carl’s school, our schools and teachers (not all-some are amazing) often turn a blind eye. Homophobia, while racism is no longer accepted, is often allowed to grow. In the United States, and Canada is no better, the suicide rate among gay teens is 30 percent, far higher than other students.

I call on our schools to stop turning a blind eye to all bullying, gay or straight. I know many youth were devastated when Alex Sanchez, the gay author, was rejected from talking at St. Stephen High School last year. His message would have helped many youth. What I think the school and principals may not be aware of is that when they take action like that, they encourage more homophobic bullying by backing up the notion that being gay is wrong or bad. The conservatives must face the fact, gay people are out there and they are normal. When I was in school we must have seen at least two or three Theatre New Brunswick plays a year. While the theatre company is entertaining, I think Mr. Sanchez’s message would have been a far better one. I do not believe the lie that there was no time. Make the time!

So lastly I ask parents who are worried about bullying to contact your schools. I also ask parents who are uniquely homophobic themselves to stop torturing gay youth through your kids and I ask the school system, please stop turning a blind eye, we don’t need another young person to kill themselves. Remember when you utter those damning words, gay youth and youth in general are listening. Bobby Griffith was a young gay man who killed himself and in the powerful words of his mother Mary Griffith, “Before you echo 'Amen' in your home or place of worship, think and remember...a child is listening.”

Poor Confused Child

Posted by Alex On 5:33 PM 5 comments
This morning I came across a Youtuber named ChristianU2uber. The channel is run by a young kid, I believe he said he was twelve, who is so confused and mixed up. I truly am very concerned for this child. On his channel even his description bothers me. He says he likes violent games like “Hit man.” Then and this is what scares me he says “A Couple Of Those Three Games Are Violent, But It Is Good To Just Let Out That Violent Feeling Deep Inside.” I have news for the kid, most of us don’t have a feeling of violence building up inside. If he does, he should talk to someone, preferably who won’t stuff religion down his throat.

Then he moves on with gay bashing video about gay marriage being wrong, but that’s just it, he sounds so confused. He has one sole reason for gay marriage being wrong. He states that god made women and men so they could get married and have children. He then goes on to say that he doesn’t think all us “gays and lesbians” are bad people but it’s just not normal for us to get married like that. He then gives us permission to live how we want, but said god doesn’t like it.

Now the part that makes me fear for him the most is that he says he used to be gay. He says he used to be gay until he found out it was wrong. He simply says he stopped it and is now very interested in girls. He however doesn’t sound very confident at all. Then he returns to his idiotic comments and states gay marriage would be like marrying your hand. The guy then turns and admits it was a stupid comparison but it’s exactly how gay marriage is. So his entire argument in the end comes down to it being abnormal.

I just feel for this kid because I believe his mind had been warped by his religious upbringing. He has no free thought. If he truly “is” gay then he knows he will never be excepted by his family and just like how the bully in the hall is insecure of his own self, the kid is trying to make himself sure he is holy and sinless.

In response many people posted responses including some calling him a “homo”. I do wish these people would stop saying this because they are implying that gay is bad. He also made another video responding to the negative comments.

The kid just seems like he could be the next school shooter. What do you think about this?

Vaginaphobe

Posted by Alex On 2:53 PM 9 comments
Yesterday I was on Davey Wavey’s, another bloggers website and in one of his post he wrote that he was a vaginaphobe. I thought this word was such a good invention and resonated with me. Just in case you don’t understand what it means, it is someone who is afraid of vaginae, which I would be willing to bet the majority of gay men are. I know I am. But one that post, Davey was torn apart by his female readers. They said things about him not liking women, but I never even took that from the post until I read the comments. I did flash back though to another time when I was on a chatting game and I was in a gay party on the site. I said that I would rather do something very nasty, they look at a vagina. I was also attacked by women who claimed I was being mean. I didn’t even think of it that way. So in case I was being an idiot, I’m sorry. But could someone explain this to me. When I say I don’t like vaginae I do not mean I don’t like the women they are attached to. All of my best friends have been girls. I have a mother and a sister I love.

I asked my sister if it bothered her if a gay guy said they didn’t like vaginae, and even she said it kind of would. She asked me if it would bother me if a woman made fun of male Penises. I told her no, I don’t think it would. But I will try to watch how I express my dislike of the vagina. I know the vagina plays an important role in nature and in a life giving way it is very beautiful, but I could go my entire life, and hope to, without seeing a vagina. I have straight male friends who would be baffled by this. So I assure you ladies, even though I can’t stand your twats, there are billions of pussy loving men who would love it. To me I say, bring on the penis. What are your comments on this?

It went up to about 12 degrees Celsius today and it was so sunny. My Mom had to go to the Doctors office, I decided to go with her and it’s only about 10 blocks or so away, so we decided to walk. I brought Kriss with us and played with him outside the office for the half hour it took my Mom. On our way home we stopped at the Tennis Courts and no one was there, so we took Kriss into the fenced in area around the courts. He loved running with no leash. I took some pictures so you could all see.

A Storm is Gathering

Posted by Alex On 10:41 PM 6 comments
The National Organization for marriage, a homophobic anti-gay group, will soon be airing distasteful and completely wrong homophobic ads on channels such as CNN, MSNBC and Fox news. The ads start with poorly trained actors saying a storm is coming. They claim that because four states have now legalized same-sex marriage, they are loosing their freedoms. They fall back onto the old argument that their children will learn about the homosexual lifestyle and that gay marriage is okay. My thought on this is "so what?" We are out there and no matter what your churches have tried to teach you, we are not social deviants who want to indoctrinate your children. Hell, many of us have children of our own. If you are worried about someone indoctrinating your children I'd look a little closer at your own churches. The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) responded with a letter slamming the commercial as fake and false. They also launched a website in an attempt to refute the falsehoods in the commercials. It’s also very laughable how they use the phrase “rainbow collation.” I thought that always belonged to us, the gay community. We coined the use of rainbows first. Apparently there is no room for us in their rainbow of different people.

The HRC website:

http://www.hrc.org/endthelies/

I have also included one of the commercials so you can judge for yourself. I’d love to hear your comments on it.

Hey, that's pretty funny. I just realised one of the ads on the side of my blog is a God ad. How funny to show up on an atheist blog. There everywhere apparently.

President Obama spoke to the troops in Iraq today. While President Bush did this as well, the troops address feels more sincere this time around. While the President did nothing more than the former at the meeting itself, his words provided much comfort to me. He told the troops that even though he had been labelled as the War hating President, that that did not mean he did not support the troops. He made sure they were aware that they would still get the help and support they needed.

This message to the troops got me thinking and comparing the new administration to the former. President Obama and his administration approach the issues with a more talkative stand. While I know that there will always be individuals and nations who oppose the United States, President Obama is making big steps to beat that. During the Bush years, the United States was very much disliked abroad because of an outdated and bullish foreign policy. When the United States meets anyone who did not agree with or had a different value system, the Bush administration's response was often to shut down and refuse to make any compromise.

On the other hand now, oppositely I find that the Obama administration will give a little in order to achieve the greater good. They will actually talk. As a result, the global community finds a since of relief being able to talk to the United States. I also find a since of relief that the United States will talk to other countries. Last week on CNN they were talking about the President’s point that he would be willing to talk with the Taliban. While many republicans tore at his words, I thought it was a great idea. Given, he must be careful where he treads in that many things the Taliban claim are falsehoods. After saying that however, it is also true that we cannot simply “blow up” or “destroy” people who do not agree with us. The Taliban organization is truly horrific and human right destroyers, but we should not attempt a foreign policy that runs on the motto “the end justifies the means.” If we allow our selves to be governed by a government that enables these types of foreign policies, we will find our selves in a very lonely and sad place. Just like the bully in the playground, when a bigger bully moves into town, we will have no friends left to defend us. No friends left to stand on our sides. We cannot live in a “us” vs. “them” mentality. We should think of ourselves as a member of the Human race, not as an American, a Canadian or an Iranian. Not as a member of a particular religion over another, but as a brother or sister of every other person in existent, Taliban or not. So when President Obama is willing to talk to our darkest and worst enemy I congratulate him. The republican view of Shot your way out, will no longer work, when we no longer have the only guns.

Self Esteem Exercise

There is a good exercise in strengthening ones self esteem. It involves making a list of the positive you bring to the world, no matter how long or short. There is no such thing as to large of a list either though, in the exercise you cannot be too vain or too self loving. Self love is good. There is also no reality in which someone cannot produce a list. Everyone has something to add. An example of something to add to a list would be “I am nice to people on the Street.” I want everyone who reads this to try to make a list and post it in the comments. I will make a list and post it later this week. I can’t wait to read your lists.

Have a Good Weekend

Posted by Alex On 6:18 PM 0 comments
I just wanted to wish everyone a good weekend. Where I live were under a weather rain warning, I think they said were supposed to get something like 40 mm of rain tonight. The mentioned something about possible power outages. So as I said I hope everyone has a good weekend.

I am fighting a nasty cold. Several people I know have also contracted it. My throat is burning and I keep coughing. I’m hoping I’m better by Monday encase I get called in for a job interview. On that note I obviously haven’t heard anything, but it usually takes a week or two for them to get back to you.

I also wanted to let you all know that same-sex marriage was legalized in the state of Iowa today. It is the first Midwestern state to do so. So that’s good news. I might go get a foot long sub from subway for supper tonight. I love both the veggie and pizza subs. Have a good weekend everyone.

Hot plus Hot equals HOT!!!

What do you get when you mix Sexy T.I. with Sexy Justin Timberlake.....one hot music video. I don't usualy like the gangster thing, but T.I. is smoking.

I will not advise anyone to visit the Westboro Baptist Church’s home page. I will actually implore you not to. On that thought though, I have always been a strong supporter of free thought and speech, so if you really want to, just beware the site can do either one of two things…bring you down, or make you burst out in laughter. The latter was my response. The church runs a site called “God Hates Fags.”The very foundation of this churches belief is so shaky and down right stupid. According to the Churches website, the church was founded in 1955 by the bigot Fred Phelps. On a side note, I was very pleased to become aware that Mr. Phelps and his daughter were banned from entering the United Kingdom. The claim to teach old school Baptist beliefs. The believe they should be in total control and that all other beliefs and religions should be ruled by theirs. Well that may be a tad to kind for them, they believe all other beliefs should be put to death.
The preach that the other churches are teaching that Jesus is excepting and that that is wrong. They claim Jesus and God are hatful of their enemies and want them killed. The picket funerals of dead soldiers and anyone else the disagree with. The one that I find the most bothering is when they picket the funerals of gay dead men. The wave plackets saying things like: “GOD HATES FAGS, FAGS HATE GOD, AIDS CURES FAGS, THANK GOD FOR AIDS, FAGS BURN IN HELL, GOD IS NOT MOCKED, FAGS ARE NATURE FREAKS, GOD GAVE FAGS UP, NO SPECIAL LAWS FOR FAGS, FAGS DOOM NATIONS, THANK GOD FOR DEAD SOLDIERS, FAG TROOPS, GOD BLEW UP THE TROOPS, GOD HATES AMERICA, AMERICA IS DOOMED, THE WORLD IS DOOMED.” They actually have a counter on one of their sites with a counter of how long Mathew Sheppard, the slain gay youth, has been roosting in hell and they annually picket his memorial where is family is. They say God is punishing us every time a natural disaster or anything of that sort takes place. After the attacks on September 11th, they cheered and praised God for killing the sinners.

They also run affiliate sites such as “America is doomed, Priests Rape Boys, and Antichrist Obama.” The claim that Obama is a homosexual loving antichrist. I have one thing to say to them, if Obama is so homosexual loving…bring on the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. They claim he will bring an end to America. They claim that the majority of humans in the world will roast in hell.

The part of this site that has continuously made me laugh is the sincerity they have. They actually believe this shit. They actually think we “homosexuals” are such evil monsters. They actually think they will take over (or even want to) take over the world.
On their site they actually have a page devoted to “God Hates Canada.” I laughed so hard at this section. There is a video of Phelps talking about some beheading on a bus, they has nothing to do with either Canada or us Queers. It is a pointless argument. Just as his argument is pointless and irrational, so it is to fight with these types of people. All we can do is know that we are natural and if you believe in God, that God Loves you. We must use our words. When people get to know that we are just like them, normal human beings…they know just that. We’re normal people. Taken from an equality video I saw, for every Fred Phelps, their is a Harvey Milk. There is a hero fighting for the rights of everyone.

Why does it offend some people so much that we gay men and women sleep with the same sex. If these people would use their own minds, rather than letting a book speak for them, the would understand this. I am strong enough and know that I am a beautiful and wonderful person, that there antics and hatred make me laugh, but I feat the impact in may have on young children coming to terms with their sexuality. Even more I pity the children of the members of the WB church. On the churches website they glorify in the indoctrination of their children. They frequently show pictures of young children wearing “God Hates Fags” T-shirts. It is just so sad that someone could teach a child to be so full of hate. It’s shameful because some of these people are actually educated individuals. But you must remember that in spite of people like Fred Phelps, there are supportive people out there. There are gay advocates, but straight people also that would fight to the death for our rights and lives. Don’t allow people like this to get to you or make you vengeful. Prove these people wrong by volunteering and just being a nice person. Make sure if you can so safely, that people know your gay. Occasionally bring up gay subjects with your friends. Make sure they know about our daily struggle for acceptance and equality. For every gay person that our friends know are just regular people, the more they will support us. In the world of Harvey Milk, “You’ve gotta give them hope”.

I’m going to include the equality video I mentioned. Remember, I love you no matter what your flaws. But when it comes to flaws, homosexuality is far from one. I love you!

Job Update-Application

I just wanted to let you guys know that today I made a big step in over coming my social anxiety. I applied for a job. I have worked before, but mostly when ever I was needed, not on a daily basis. So today I applied to Ganongs Candy Factory. I am hoping to gain two things out of working. First and probably the most obvious, is the money. There are a few things I want, plus I want to start saving some money. I’m also going to start paying Mom $50 a week, kind of like a board payment. It will mostly go toward better food and events we can do. She is going to charge my sister, Stephanie, board also. The good thing about Mom, is that she adjusts the rate depending on how much were making. I’m totally ok with it. We also talked about Gas money since I will need to be driven to work everyday. She told me that I wouldn’t have to pay when ever Dad or someone else was already going out, or to work. That means most of the time I won’t have to pay. The only time I will have to pay is when I work the night or evening shift. The three shifts at Ganongs rotate. The shifts are; 8-4, 4-12 and 12-8. My favourite would be 4-12, I think. Mom said even the weeks where I would have to get driven both ways that $20 would cover it.

So anyway, I am a mixed bag of emotions. Which brings me to the second thing I want to gain. I want to become more socially comfortable around other people. On one hand I am happy/excited and on the other hand I am still nervous and scared. The thing that I have to over come next is orientation and the first week. I keep feeling panicky when I think about making mistakes when on the factory floor and product like. But I’m not worrying…well I am, but I’ll just have to face it day-to-day.
