Maggie Gallagher On Lou Dobbs

Posted by Alex On 9:35 PM 2 comments
Maggie Gallagher head of the National Organization for Marriage was on CNN's "Lou Dobbs Tonight" and was taken on by Prof. Tobias Wolff. Near the end the professor asked Gallagher what she expected to happen to the gay people who would be here even if gay marriage wasn't legal. She said, she didn't care, but didn't think they should be redefining what marriage was supposed to be. Then the host filling in for Lou Dobbbs asked Maggie what her reaction was to the fact that the majority of young voters support gay marriage. Her response what that the fate of marriage shouldn't be put in young peoples hands and that everyone should listen to the older generation who was wise. This is when the host spoke up and said she did not agree with Gallagher and that a good bit of wisdom can come from young people.

NH Marriage Compromise

Via TowlerRoad ...

The New Hampshire Senate and House committee have agreed on a compromise in the wording of the Same-Sex marriage bill and the Governor has agreed. The revised bill will now come up for a vote most likely on Wednesday. The changes make the language for religious protection a little stronger than the original bill. Such as one section that said "charitable and educational" and now says "charitable or educational."

Rob Thomas-Gay Chip

Posted by Alex On 6:18 PM 1 comments

A little while back Singer Rob Thomas went to fight for the Gay Communities rights and now he is at it again. This time he wrote an article for the Huffington Post. Here is an exert:

"I am a straight man, with a big gay chip on my shoulder.

A while back on my Twitter page (yes, I know how ridiculous it sounds), I mentioned that, if I believed in the devil, Pat Robertson might be him.

Being a fairly liberal-leaning guy with either liberal friends or Republican and Christian friends who don't believe that being one has anything to do with the other, I was surprised at how many people took offense to what I had to say.

These people weren't friends of Mr. Robertson but friends, apparently, of God. They had "spoken" with him and he had assured them that he was no friend of the gays. He also told them that he loved America more than any other country and was a huge fan of Dancing With the Stars."

I highly recommend you read the entire article here.

Why Lt. Dan Choi Came Out?

Lt. Dan Choi Spoke last night at a Los Angeles Day of Decision Rally. He speaks and gets his point across very well, including reciting a poem in Arabic about love. I think we may have found our own Miss California, or would you rather, our own Anti-Prejean. I mean look at him last night, he's a lot sexier. I had to watch the video twice, once to hear what he was saying, because the first time all I could see was that tight t-shirt. I feel bad to be objectifying someone fighting for our rights, but in this case I feel comfortable in doing both.

Canadian Seal Hunt

Posted by Alex On 8:13 PM 2 comments

In an article I read on the Stranger I found out that the Governor General of Canada, Michaëlle Jean, cut a piece of meat from a dead seal and ate the raw meat in the traditional ways of the Inuit. In the article they mention how the Canadian Government defended the seal hunt by saying it was no different than cattle farming and slaughter. The seal hunt is a yearly event that takes place the Canadian North. The United Kingdom has banned any seal products from Canada. It used to take place with hooks that environmentalist claimed were inhumane, so the process is not usually done anymore with guns. Well here is my response.

I'm a Canadian, living in small town Canada in an area that's pretty much tied to the sea. But I would consider myself very liberal in a conservative tide. When I first heard of the seal hunt, I was horrified. I hate the idea, but I must admit I am imagining a small baby seal being beaten to death by some brute. We must step back from this, however, if we're going to make a clear judgement. I still wish the seal hunt did not take place, but it is NOT different than any other form of hunting or cattle slaughter. My Grandfather was a very avid deer hunter. He was so excited about being able to go out every year and bag that deer. While I grew to hate the act, I see no difference between this, which is completely legal and the seal hunt. If one is banned, shouldn't all be banned? The reason I think the deer analogy is such a great example, because not only does it have a personal feel for me, but it brings up another point. We all know the story of the movie Bambie where Bambie's mother is shot by a hunter. The movie is very sad and I never understood why parents showed it to their children. But the point remains, deer are cute, some would argue as cute as the seal. So why is it that deer hunting is still allowed, but their is such an out cry over the seal hunt? The following list is just the animals I could think of  in my area that are hunted or kill:

Deer
Partridge (type of Bird)
Ducks
Moose
Rabbits (Bunnies)
Turkey
Salmon
Trout
Many Other Fish
Bear

Now those are just the official animals to be killed. Here are the animals that I know for sure people shoot and are killed all the time without anyone doing anything:

Squirrels
Porcupine
Various Birds
Skunks
Raccoons
Badgers
Snakes
Basically any animal is open game!

Now I think this is just as horrible, but nothing is done. In fact it is legalized. I know for sure the United States Government supports many types of hunting. I imagine the United Kingdom does also. I know both countries cattle farm. These acts are no different. Cows and Pigs, have you ever got to know one. They can be just as cute as the seal. So I wish the seal hunt and any other hunting never took place, but either we all give up hunting and become vegetarians or get off of Canada's back please.

Alberta Tops Itself - Bill 44

Posted by Alex On 8:03 PM 0 comments

I thought Canada had moved passed this, but in the province of Alberta two unfortunate things are taking place. First off, medicare will no longer cover gender reassignment surgery plus a new bill is moving through the legislature. The new bill would require schools to provide sufficient notice to parents about anything involving sexual orientation/identity. This may sound acceptable, but not if you consider this. If a child is going to speak about his or her two Mommies or Daddies in a school project, just like many children of heterosexual parents do, the school would not be allowed to let that child do so. They would have to send letters home to all parents and give sufficient time for them to respond. In most cases the child would not be allowed to do the project at all, considering schools are tight for class time now. Then were not even mentioning the implications of such a bill on LGBT youth. There are also many other problems that could arise from this. To read the original article go here:

ROTC Banned Because of DADT

On the Harvard University Campus the ROTC club is banned because the school says the clubs policy is against school policy. The ROTC is run under military rule and thus the LGBT students are not allowed to join because of DADT. I understand the club members being upset that they have to go to another university campus to attend their club meetings, but instead of trying to get the school to change, how about they try to get the policy changed from the federal government. Then all students who wanted to, could join. That would be fair. Here is a CNN interview on the topic:

Anderson was stunned by what the mayor was saying. The mayor then went on to say, they the tree men killed should have never been there in the first place. He blamed the people that sent the men, and said as outsiders they had no right. The interview grows intense:

The View-Ventura Vs. Hasselbeck

Posted by Alex On 4:43 PM 0 comments
All this week on the View is Hot Topics, the portion of the show where they discuss current events. Yesterday on the show Jesse Ventura joined them co-hosts and they started a debate on torture. Jesse Ventura said that during his Navy Seal training her was required to be "Water Boarded." He plainly said that the act is torture. Ventura then got into a debate over the topic with Elisabeth. The republican Co-Host said that without the use of water boarding the US government wouldn't have gotten important information about terrorist activities. That is when Ventura said that the information was learned before the water boarding. Later on he said that the use of the term "enhanced interrogation" techniques was a word former President Dick Cheney used to justify using torture.

It's good to finally see Elisabeth getting what she gives.

WTF Michael Steel

Posted by Alex On 12:21 PM 0 comments
As "The Gay Atheist" reported several days ago the head of the GOP, Michael Steel, stated that allowing same-sex marriage would harm small business. Well, MSNBC's Keith Olbermann took on the issue last night with the accurate information. Michael Steel had originally said

“Now all of a sudden, I've got someone who wasn’t a spouse before that I had no responsibility for, who’s now getting claimed as a spouse, that I now have responsibility for. So how do I pay for that? Who pays for that? You just cost me money!”

The facts are in, Nation wide same-sex marriage would bring in over 16 BILLION dollars a year. The point is, same-sex marriage is good for the economy and as Mr. Olbermann puts it, it is a stimulus package in it's own right.

Angels and Demons Review

Posted by Alex On 2:26 PM 2 comments

“Our church is at war. We are under attack from an old enemy. The Illuminati. They have struck us from within and threatening us all with destruction from their new god Science.”

The above quote pretty much sums ups Ron Howard’s new film Angels and Demons. The film stars Tom Hanks at Professor Robert Langdon, the symbologist we meet in “The Da Vinci Code.” A lab called CERN has produced a new technology called Anti-matter. The invention could unite Science and Religion plus it could be an unbelievable power source. The only bad thing is that if anti-matter touches any matter, even air, it explodes. To solve this problem a physicist Vitorria Vetra creates a container that suspends it. However someone breaks in and steals a container. The container is only safe as long as the battery last. Mean while someone has also kidnapped 4 cardinals. They are threatening to blow up the anti-matter which has been placed in the Vatican. The film is based on Dan Brown’s book of the same name, but that is where my biggest complaint with this film lies.

I know that no movie exactly mirrors the book it was based on, but I found unlike The Da Vinci Code, Angels and Demons greatly varied from the book. I think this may have been a bad decision on the part of Ron Howard. The movie also had a different feel than the book. In the book, Robert Langdon and the Physicist Vitorria Vetra became very close and while at the end of the film they portrayed their relationship at the same level it seemed unbelievable because they hadn’t spent the time together or showed the rest of the emotions to build an intimate relationship.

Also the plot line was greatly changed. People, I will not ruin the plot line by saying who, that died in the book, lived to have different impacts on the plot line in the film. The book was also much darker, while the film seemed more censored.

In the film several alternative plot lines from the book were completely removed, including the entire part about Doctor Kohler and CERN. There was also no mention that I noticed where they told that the doctor who was killed in the beginning was Vitorria’s father. They also cut out the segment where the killer talked to the unknown organizer of the Illuminati plot. By cutting out segments of the film involving the killer, they made him appear as if he was only working for money, while in the book he came off as a devote servant, doing the killings just to please his masters.

So before I spoil too much of the film, I will rap it up. All in all the film varied from the book a lot. I would still recommend seeing it if your going to the movies anyway. I will say though that if you like Science Fiction films, I would suggest seeing Star Trek instead. I enjoyed it so much more. I think the movie just seemed fake, at least in light of reading the book. I worry that people who haven’t read the book however may not get into it as much. So to tell the truth, I was a little disappointed. If I was rating with stars, I would rate the film a 3 out of 5 stars. I don’t doubt it will do well this weekend in theatres, but it could have been so much better.

NOM- Confused Children TV Ad

Posted by Alex On 5:53 PM 3 comments
The National Organization for Marriage's ad has been out for a few months at least now, but I just saw it for the first time today. In the ad children are shown asking questions about same-sex marriage. The questions however are laughable at best. One child says to his Grandmother that his teacher told him if Grandpa was a boy, they could still get married. One child at the end actually says, "I'm confused." Note to NOM: children don't get confused about this stuff unless their is an adult behind the confusion and prejudice. Besides are they trying to say that hearing gay people can get married, will cause children to become gay? What shit!

She specifically mentioned the comment Prejean said about the wind blowing open her top when she wasn't looking.

Palin Pro Prejean

Posted by Alex On 12:08 PM 0 comments

Yesterday, Sarah Palin the Alaskan Governor, released a statement defending Miss California, Carrie Prejean. Palin brought up the free speech argument in defence of Prejean, but appeared to miss the point of others right to free speech. One also might find it a large hypocrisy that while Palin and Prejean are demanding they are able to enact their right of free speech, they are with the other hand trying to take away our rights.

The Governor said this:

“Carrie and I spoke soon after the attacks started; I can relate as a liberal target myself."

“What I find so remarkable is that these politically-motivated attacks fail to show that what Carrie and I believe is also what President Obama and Secretary Clinton believe - marriage is between a man and a woman,” said Palin.“I applaud Donald Trump for standing with Carrie during this time. And I respect Carrie for standing strong and staying true to herself, and for not letting those who disagree with her deny her protection under the nation's First Amendment Rights.”

Please Governor, worry about your own State. Seriously if this women ever becomes President, I will strongly consider marching to the nearest immigration office and giving back my duel American citizenship.

NY Assemblyman, Bi = Polygamists

My Opinion, to avoid the slippery slope he mentions, we should be extra safe. Let's get rid of marriage all together. Not even just civil marriage now, lets get rid of all marriage, religious included. That would kill so many birds with just one single stone. It would end divorce and finally blow the hell out of that scary slippery slope the bigots, opps I mean Republicans, are always talking about. We all know how much the bible likes using stones to solve problems. It's called Leviticus, look it up.

Shanna Moakler Resigns

Posted by Alex On 6:19 PM 0 comments

Well, I thought something was fishy when Trump endorsed Carrie Prejean, and it wasn't just Carrie. The day before Donald's backing up of Prejean, the executive directors of Miss California USA, tore at Miss California for her actions after the pageant, also reaffirming that her answer in favour of "opposite" marriage was not the reason she lost the pageant. But yesterday during Donald's press conference both of the executive directors seemed subdued, like they had been given a good work over by "The Donald."

Today I got my confirmation that they were being forced to go along with Miss Prejean. Earlier today co-executive director of Miss California USA resigned.

Shanna released the bellow statement:

"Since the press conference yesterday, I had a chance to think about what has taken place, and I feel that at this time it is in my best interest to resign from the Miss California USA organization.

I cannot with a clear conscious move forward supporting and promoting the Miss Universe organization when I no longer believe in it, or the contracts I signed committing myself as a youth. I want to be a role model for young women with high hopes of pageantry, but now feel it more important to be a role model for my children. I am sorry and hope I have not let any young supporters down but wish them the best of luck in fulfilling their dreams."

Right after Miss California gave her rant about opposite marriage, Shanna appeared on CNN to defend gay marriage and explain how Miss California should act. Now a note to Miss California: that is being a good role model. Go Suck it:

There is also a great new article in the advocate on the topic, written by Dave White. Dave recaps the press conference, but adds underneath his own thought.

I hope this is the last thing I post on Miss California. MSNBC's Keith Olbermann has created a new segment on his show called "WTF." This week it stars Carrie Prejean. You have to watch his reaction to the issue. Fuck You Carrie! Fuck you Very Very Much!

More Miss Calif. Pictures

Posted by Alex On 10:19 AM 0 comments
More pictures of Miss California have been released. These pictures were allegedly taken when Miss California was twenty, over the legal age and in a professional photo shoot. Miss California and her agent claimed there was only one photo shoot. Donald Trump will make the decision on her crown being stripped or not later today. I will post the conclusion as soon as I know it.

Miss California has said that Satan was tempting her when she was asked the question about gay marriage. One must wonder if Satan was tempting her when she posed for nude photos.

Miss Calif. Org. Press Conference

The Miss California Organization today had a press conference discussing the Miss California/National Organization for Marriage incident. They tore at the President of the National Organization for Marriage, Maggie Gallagher, blaming her for "using" Carrie. They also mentioned the recent shot by Miss Gallagher that they should be able to use the pageant footage. It was pretty heated. I believe the ruling on Carrie being stripped of her crown or not will take place tomorrow. It was also stated that she was not being punished for her views, but her breach of contract, reaffirming that she did breach contract. Here is the video:

Star Trek Opens W/ 76.5 Million

Posted by Alex On 12:33 PM 0 comments
I saw the new Star Trek Movie this weekend. I loved it. It made 76.5 Million dollars opening weekend. The movie was very hot, and Kirk played by Chris Pine helped steam it up even more. There was this one scene when Kirk is making out with this girl, you end up finding out she's green, and he stands up revealing a bulge in his underwear and a six pack chest. I drooled, I'm proud to admit it. I suggest it to everyone, seeing the movie that is. I still haven't seen the other movies I want to see, Wolverine, The Ghost of Girl Friends Past and 17 again. When I do, I'll write a review. I give Star Trek 4 out of 5 stars.

Death of Google

Posted by Alex On 12:57 AM 0 comments

How many times have you typed and actual question into Google, such as "what is the average temperature in a certain location?" I know I have at least a few times. Usually it results in a page where you have to search for the information you want. Well a new search engine secretly created by a mathematician in Britain could soon take Google down a few pegs if not have a major impact on the popular search engine. A new search engine called "Wolfram Aplha" would give you specific answers.

The search engine was created by Stephen Wolfram and a team of 250 people. Last week when a small test of the new search engine was released, teck geeks went crazy. The search engine is basically a giant data bank of information. The site will be free and make money from advertising, much like Google, except that a higher version will be available for purchase.

So mostly the difference between other sites and this new one, is that when you use other sites, you have to search through information for the actual number you need rather than just being given what you need. Either way Google will soon have some competition.

DADT-Lt. Dan Choi-CNN Interview

Posted by Alex On 10:04 PM 0 comments
I am glad the mainstream media is finally starting to pay attention to issues like "Don't Ask, Don't Tell." I reported yesterday, the story of Lt. Dan Choi an Arabic linguist, who while on MSNBC's Rachel Maddow Show came out as being gay. He later received his notice that he was being let go from the army. Lt. Choi has served two terms in Iraq, and is willing to go back. This is his second interview, the one done by CNN.

Also may I mention I still find Lt. Choi very attractive. Something about a military man.

Anchor-"Out"rage!

Posted by Alex On 7:34 PM 0 comments
A local D.C. news show called Let's Talk Live! had gay blogger Michael Rogers discussing the new Film Outrage. For anyone who does not know, the film outs politicians who actively fight against the gay community, but privately engage in same-sex acts.

Mr. Rogers is the editor of blogactive.com. During a debate over the film, one of the Anchor's of the television show, Doug McKelway threatened to punch the blogger in the face.

At one point Mr. McKelway mentioned the families of these "outed" men including how some of them still had live parents. It was then that Mr. Rogers asked the anchor if he thought being gay was wrong or bad. I have included the video of the debate and the response from readers on the next days show.

Queers-Not Around My Kids

Posted by Alex On 12:37 PM 0 comments
Sarah Palin's old election time buddy is at it again. In a recent interview with a christian magazine Joe the Plumber said he has homosexual friends. He also said that calling someone a "queer" wasn't a slur, like calling someone a honky is a slur. He told people to look it up in the dictionary, queer means strange and unusual, and apparently that's what gay people are. Now back to his "gay" friends, Joe said his friends know how he feels and he wouldn't let any queers near his children.

Here is what he actually said:

“At a state level, it’s up to them. I don’t want it to be a federal thing. I personally still think it’s wrong. People don’t understand the dictionary — it’s called queer. Queer means strange and unusual. It’s not like a slur, like you would call a white person a honky or something like that. You know, God is pretty explicit in what we’re supposed to do — what man and woman are for. Now, at the same time, we’re supposed to love everybody and accept people, and preach against the sins. I’ve had some friends that are actually homosexual. And, I mean, they know where I stand, and they know that I wouldn’t have them anywhere near my children. But at the same time, they’re people, and they’re going to do their thing.”

Here is a little radio/tv show talking about it with actual Joe quotes:

New Hampshire-Yes on Equality

Posted by Alex On 6:40 PM 0 comments

The New Hampshire Senate voted to pass legislation today to allow same-sex couples to marry in the state. Governor Lynch has said he thinks marriage is between a man and a women, but hasn't said he would kill the bill. Hopes are high, with the passing and Governor's signature on same-sex marriage in Maine today. The Governor could either veto the bill and kill it, sign it into law or choose to do nothing in which it would become law by itself.

You can contact the Governor and ask for his support here .

I'm not sure if it was just on my end, but earlier when I tried to check out the website, it was not working correctly.

Save the Dandelions!

Posted by Alex On 5:20 PM 0 comments
Davey Wavey, a favourite blogger of mine recently posted on his blog about something I also feel strongly about, the genocide of the dandelions. Some how, some where, some one decided that dandelions were weeds, but everything in nature has beauty. We should stop the needless slaughter of dandelions. Obviously though this post is not just about saving the dandelions, but rather about realising the inner beauty around all of us. Everything has its own beauty, we just have to find it. So we are asking people to take the pledge to save the dandelion and notice the beauty all around.

The pledge can be found here .

Maine Approves Gay Marriage

Posted by Alex On 1:43 PM 0 comments
Maine has become the 5th US state to allow Gay Marriage Today. The Bill passed the house yesterday and went back to the Senate today. There it passed 21-13. The Governor then had up to ten days to decide what to do, but decided to sign it into law immediately. The Governor released this statement:

"I have followed closely the debate on this issue. I have listened to both sides, as they have presented their arguments during the public hearing and on the floor of the Maine Senate and the House of Representatives. I have read many of the notes and letters sent to my office, and I have weighed my decision carefully," Governor Baldacci said. "I did not come to this decision lightly or in haste."

"I appreciate the tone brought to this debate by both sides of the issue," Governor Baldacci said. "This is an emotional issue that touches deeply many of our most important ideals and traditions. There are good, earnest and honest people on both sides of the question."

"In the past, I opposed gay marriage while supporting the idea of civil unions," Governor Baldacci said. "I have come to believe that this is a question of fairness and of equal protection under the law, and that a civil union is not equal to civil marriage."

"Article I in the Maine Constitution states that 'no person shall be deprived of life, liberty or property without due process of law, nor be denied the equal protection of the laws, nor be denied the enjoyment of that person's civil rights or be discriminated against.'"

"This new law does not force any religion to recognize a marriage that falls outside of its beliefs. It does not require the church to perform any ceremony with which it disagrees. Instead, it reaffirms the separation of Church and State," Governor Baldacci said.

"It guarantees that Maine citizens will be treated equally under Maine's civil marriage laws, and that is the responsibility of government."

"Even as I sign this important legislation into law, I recognize that this may not be the final word," Governor Baldacci said. "Just as the Maine Constitution demands that all people are treated equally under the law, it also guarantees that the ultimate political power in the State belongs to the people."

"While the good and just people of Maine may determine this issue, my responsibility is to uphold the Constitution and do, as best as possible, what is right. I believe that signing this legislation is the right thing to do,"

The question now is if it will go to the people for a vote. Maine is split almost equally over same-sex marriage.

Same-sex marriage is also being considered in New Hampshire today. I suggest everyone contact both New Hampshire and Maine, to ask New Hampshire to approve this legislation and to thank the Maine Governor.

The "View"-Creationism in Schools

Posted by Alex On 5:20 PM 0 comments

The "women" of the View as Joy likes to be called talked about creationism and evolution in public schools today on the show. The obvious conservatives Elizabeth and Sherri believe creationism should be taught in schools. Sherri said she was teaching her son Jeffrey who is four, creationism at home and is okay with him learning evolution, but hinted that she would teach him only creationism was really right.

Joy really stood up for the topic of evolution however when she said teaching only creationism makes ignorant children and that is child abuse. She said there was proof the evolution was real.

Elizabeth commented back saying to Joy it was "her" way. Whoppi then said "it's science."
It sounds like Joy may have been reading Richard Dawkins' God Delusion. Indoctrination is child abuse.

The Huffington Post has video of the spat on their site

X-Men Origins: Wolverine was number one at the theatres this weekend. It didn't go as good as the former X-Men films, but still brought in a good number of viewers. Ghost of Girl Friends Past, starring the sexy Matthew McConaughey came in second. Obsessed staring Beyonce came third. Accodring to the Asociated Press, Star Trek could soon beat them all, and I agree. With a cast of sexy men and a kick ass plot line, I can't wait to see it.

Michael Reagan-On Gay Marriage

Posted by Alex On 11:05 AM 0 comments
Yesterday on CNN, Michael Reagan the conservative radio talk show host got into a debate about same sex marriage with Stephanie Miller the liberal talk show host. Mr. Reagan began to say how the majority of Americans were against same sex marriage. Of course polls now show that in fact the majority of Americans support same sex marriage. Either way Miss Miller asked Mr. Reagan about New Hampshire and how it may legalize gay marriage. Michael said he would go with God and Stephanie could go with New Hampshire. He truly is a dick.

The Egyptian government in what many say is a unnecessary attempt to try to stop swine flu is going to kill all the pigs in the country about 350 000. This slaughter has no reason behind it. The virus is predominately being spread by humans now, killing the pigs will have little or no impact. It's just more over reacting.

Morality from Religion

Posted by Alex On 9:33 AM 0 comments
In Richard Dawkins’ popular book “The God Delusion” Dawkins counters the argument that many theist claim that without religion we would have no foundation for moral fibre. Dawkins illustrates that morality like all aspects of life is evolved over a long period of time through natural selection. This argument also explains why our sense of morality changes over time, what we think is right or wrong. If morality was based on religion, then it should have just formed all at once, being static, not fluid like it is. This explains why at one time, the idea of slavery or owning ones daughter was completely acceptable in society, while today in at least western society it is not. This also stands to the point that society is becoming okay with homosexuality, seeing that gay people are regular people.

A recent CNN poll further backed up this point. The poll had this result:

“The more often Americans go to church; the more likely they are to support the torture of suspected terrorists, according to a new survey.... White evangelical Protestants were the religious group most likely to say torture is often or sometimes justified—more than six in 10 supported it. People unaffiliated with any religious organization were least likely to back it. Only four in 10 of them did”.

It can be said that religion if anything sometimes holds back the natural evolution of what morality is. Religion hijacks the natural thought process and shuts off the questioning part of the brain.
