ALICE IN CHAINS: New Single, Video On The Way - June 26, 2009
ALICE IN CHAINS is likely to premiere the video for the song "A Looking In View" at the band's official web site on Tuesday, June 30, according to a date posted at the site. Two short teasers for the clip can be viewed below. Meanwhile, sources tell The Pulse of Radio that an official radio single called "Check My Brain" will head to rock stations in mid-August.

ALICE IN CHAINS' first collection of all-new studio material in 14 years, "Black Gives Way To Blue", is set for release on September 29 through EMI Music's Virgin Records label. The disc will feature the recording debut with the group of singer William DuVall, who first got behind the mic for the band's 2006 reunion tour after original vocalist Layne Staley died in 2002.

The album title first appeared on without any prior announcement from the band, who made their signing with Virgin official a couple of weeks ago through a press release that did not reveal a title or release date.

Guitarist Jerry Cantrell recently told The Pulse of Radio that ALICE IN CHAINS was "really proud" of the new record, adding, "Regardless of how it does, it's a win already for us, 'cause we really dig it and we stand behind it, and each other."

ALICE IN CHAINS will play a small, intimate gig at London, England's Scala on August 4 — two days after playing the second stage at the METALLICA-headlined inaugural Sonisphere festival, set to take place on August 1-2 at the legendary Knebworth Park, United Kingdom.

ALICE IN CHAINS will next perform on July 18 at Comerica Park in Detroit with KID ROCK. The group has yet to air any of the new material live.

Makes me wonder. Why no clips with singing? Are they ashamed? Not trying to be a hater, but we have heard tons of clips from them over the past couple months, but none with singing. Stupid assfucks!

COMMENT | Why no clips of the singing?

Probably because they don't want to start drawing comparisons and criticicisms too soon before the albums release. Maybe they just want to surprise us or keep us in suspense. Regardless, I know this is going to be cool, and I know DuVall can sing, and I know Jerry was/is the creative force behind AIC, so this should be great.

nice. Way to poke the bruise, man. Blabbermouth talkback arguments are some of the most entertaining things on the internet.

Personally, I'm psyched on it.

Degradation Trip sounds like the AIC album Layne was too doped out to be a part of...

They've already said they don't even care if it flops, because they had fun making it, and they're all proud of it.

Hell, from what I've read, the AIC dudes are all close with Layne's mother, and she has given her blessing.

JT Rocker is probably on the money about why no vocal samples yet. Probably the same reason that all that Mission Metallica shit from last year gave you no real clue how awesome Death Magnetic was actually going to be. The vocals probably sound great though. That riff sample is killer.

Again, I'm psyched for this album, but let's all give this album its fair chance. If it stinks, THEN we can say "no layne = no aic"... Fair?

you got me, dude! Lol!

nice way to make me realize I was getting a little too steamed here. Thanks, man!

And I agree with Petehagen, Degradation Trip sounds a lot like Alice, especially on Spiderbite and Pshycotic break. Great album, great musicians, great artwork.

So, let´s see what this new album brings us. I´m really I'm psyched on it.

I'm psyched for the new album. Really interested in the new tunes and how DuVall will sound on the originals. I've seen them a couple times unplugged and plugged in and DuVall does complete justice to all the songs.

For those people that keep posting this No Layne = No AIC crap, STOP!!! Layne is dead, has been, get over it. He was not the only member of this band and not the only song writer or singer for that matter.

AC/DC continues without Bon and they're still great. Van Halen only got bigger after Roth. Anthrax and John Bush reached a whole new audience. Iron Maiden anyone?

Seriously, you tools who keep posting this have obviously never bothered to listen to DuVall sing because his voice is great. He's not Layne, but the vocals work absolutely wonderful the AIC songs.

Long Live Alice in Chains!!! \,,/

I am so excited to hear what they have created.

Those of you who want to say hateful bullshit about it will never do anything that compares to what AIC has achieved ALREADY, so you'd probably be bashing this album even if Layne Staley had never died in the first place.

It seems so obvious to me that William Duvall has the pipes and the creativity to stand on that stage with these three brilliant musicians . . . I am so thrilled that these guys have the stones and the spines to survive such a MASSIVE LETDOWN and bring themselves back from what must have been a brutalizing, saddening and ultimately slow-motion suicide of one of the Greatest rock singers we will ever see. RIP Layne Staley . . . . just like Michael Jackson, we're never gonna get another one of you.

Alice In Chains has my full support and I am counting the minutes until it is available.

You know as a massive AIC fan since 1991 I too found it hard to except that without Layne there was to be an AIC... but then after some time I realized I liked all the musicians in AIC and loved Jerry Cantrells solo stuff... hell I loved William Duvalls band Comes With The Fall a lot too. So I am looking forward to hearing what comes up. I can always listen to the old AIC but I am at least going to give them a chance!

guess what? might as well stop whing/bitching about Layne not being in the band because(welcome to 2009) he's DEAD! DEAD DEAD DEAD!! he did it to himself, he's worm food, never gonna sing another note.
but the rest of the band is still alive and have a new singer who is very much the same, so if you've still got a hard-on for the heroin junkie dead guy, go visit his grave.
i choose to enjoy the new living AIC

Layne was cremated, fuckwad.

as for the "hard-on for the heroin junkie dead guy" comment, it just shows how clueless you are with that disrespect.

did you buy your new "AIC" t-shirt from hot topic yet?

uh yep. pathetic cash grab.

here's a tip for ya, junior. find Mad Season's "Above". Layne can't be touched.

Alice in Bling is what it is. rename it, jerry.

no Layne= no aic.

those of you calling it a cash grab..... even if they changed the name, you'd still bash them.... so move on

For me, it's just awesome knowing Sean and Jerry have recorded something new. I have nothing against Mike Inez, he's awesome, but I love the bass lines on Dirt. As for who is singing, I could care less. These guys have to basically live together while touring and recording so chemistry is a must. In live clips, there are times I think William is brilliant and other times he is having a bad day. We all know how a stuidio can make your voice sound brilliant. I am excited to hear Jerry and William harmonize together.

he had a almost good voice. boring at times.
but well, HE'S DEAD!

and cash grab? of course.

but i am a little worried what william's voice will sound like on the new album. i saw their tour a couple falls ago and his live voice was pretty good, different but good, but it'll take an open mind to adjust to his voice over aic's music on an album. hopefully on tuesday we'll all love the song but you might have to give it a few listens before you can appreciate (or tolerate) his voice. in the end the new aic will be as great as the old aic
