Jeremy Clarkson upsets Scouts, Catholic Church with Skoda commentary
What do you get when you mix Clarkson, May, a Skoda, and the Catholic church? Controversy, of course. During a review of the Skoda Scout, May and Clarkson engaged in a bit of banter that mingled scouts -- as in Boy Scouts -- the church, and inappropriate touching. And when you "have a dig at two organizations that do a lot for the community," formal complaints get filed to the BBC, you get the Scout Association gunning for you, and you make lots of people unhappy... except the 7.5 million people who watched the show. Ah, Top Gear...

Exactly. So the only way to settle this is to do it 'Top Gear' style. We'll have a race.
Lets see how long it takes Jeremy to count how many boys he's molested.
And then we'll see how long it takes the Catholic Church and the Boy Scouts to count how many boys they have molested.
Guess who's going to win? I'll give you a hint....

I know things like this are a small technicality when talking about religion, but according to the article so far its only the scouts that are complaining.

I was a Boy Scout and am Catholic and I thought it was humorous in Clarkson's usual biting way, so everyone needs to get the hell over themselves. It's bad enough in America we now cater to the lowest common denominator, now the rest of the free world has gone PC!

This is as dumb as people making Michael Jackson jokes and getting crap for it.
Sure it might be lacking some taste, but that is Clarkson in a nutshell.
If he didn't make some off-color comments every now and again, the show wouldn't be as entertaining. It would we one thing if it wasn't true, but it is, so suck it up people, the truth hurts sometimes.

I thought it was lame on a couple of levels. One, both cracks are pretty stale. So it's not as if Jeremy was being all that "edgy". Second, it's hard to be edgy against such soft targets. Take on Gordon Brown, that's funny. Take on the Boy Scouts? Wow, that one takes some real balls.
I still love the show. That joke was stupid, though.

If Clarkson wants to be a social iconclast he ought to find a venue that isn't funded by the very same Catholic British taxpayers he feels compelled to insult.
Will this "non-PC" hero make a similar crack about Islam? or Gays? or some similar out of bounds group?
No, don't hold your breath waiting for an utter and complete invertebrate like Clarkson to take on any group that might actually stand a chance of doing him any damage.
