CLEVELAND, OH - June 25, 2009 -
The Cleveland Cavaliers acquired the draft rights to forward Emir Preldzic
, the 57th overall pick of the 2009 NBA Draft, from the Phoenix Suns in exchange for cash considerations.
"Emir is a talented and versatile player that plays multiple positions for his team in Turkey. We are pleased to have his rights and look forward to getting to know him more," Cavaliers General Manager Danny Ferry said.
Preldzic, 21, has played the past two seasons with Fenerbahce Ulker Istanbul of the Turkish League. During the 2008-09 season, he averaged 8.8 points on .510 shooting, 4.5 rebounds and 4.3 assists in 24 games. In 16 games during Euroleague play, he averaged 7.3 points on .456 shooting, 3.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists. The 6-foot-9 forward also has experience playing in the Slovenian League (2004-2007) and Adriatic League (2006-07).
