Sarah Monette, award winning novelist and short story writer, will discuss the genre of fantasy and how it differs from realistic fiction. She'll cover tips on how to read fantasy as well as talking about how she goes about writing this difficult but rewarding genre.

The Bartholomew County Public Library carries Monette's works including the Doctrine of Labyrinths, a series of four books set in the fantasy world of Meduse.

Monette, who lives in Wisconsin, began writing at the age of 12. She grew up in Oak Ridge, Tennessee and has a Ph.D. in English literature. She is a full-time writer and the daughter-in-law of BCPL reference librarian Elizabeth Monette.

Copies of The Bone Key and Mélusine, two of Monette's books, will be available for purchase from Viewpoint Books.
