Law Clerk Program

You may apply for a law clerk position if you have completed at least one semester of law school. Our law clerks are selected either through our in-house recruiting committee (mail application process) or our on-campus recruiting program. Each year during the Fall semester, the OAG will participate in on-campus interview programs at several state law schools. In addition, we encourage interested out of state students to submit applications as outlined later in this information sheet.

Some law schools offer fellowships or stipends to their students who work for government entities during the summer. Check with your law school's career services office for details regarding stipends, hiring criteria, resume drop deadlines, etc. We place law students in any of our 20+ legal divisions, where they will work under the direct supervision of a senior attorney.

On campus interview applicants must comply with dates set by your law school for participating in on campus interviews.

Important Dates for Applications MAILED to the OAG
Applications must be received by February 6, 2009 to be considered for Summer 2009. Along with your completed Law Clerk Application, send a copy of your resume, a short writing sample, and a copy of your latest transcript to the address listed below.

Law students may also clerk while in law school. Check with your law school about for-credit clerkship opportunities.
