Jieyi, male, ethnic Han, born in Beijing in December 1957,
graduate degree, joined the Communist Party of China in February
He taught at the College for Teachers' Vocational
Training of Chaoyang District, Beijing before January 1978 when
he entered the Beijing Institute of Foreign Languages to study.
He became an interpreter for the United Nations Office in Geneva
in June 1981; and began to work for the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs from March 1987, where he has taken positions
successively as Deputy Division Director, Division Director,
Counselor, Deputy Director-General and Director-General. From
August 1995 to August 1998, he was Counselor of the Permanent
Mission of China to the United Nations. He started to work as
Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs in December 2007, and
assumed the office of Vice-Minister of the International
Department of the CPC Central Committee in May 2009.
