As part of a comprehensive redistricting strategy, Anne Arundel County Public Schools will undertake the process of redistricting along the Mountain Road corridor in Pasadena and the part of the county south of the South River In the 2008-2009 school year. The collaborative redistricting process is lengthy and includes many opportunities for public input. Committees made up of citizens and school system employees will be formed for both areas. Those committees will make a recommendation to Superintendent Kevin M. Maxwell. Dr. Maxwell must, in turn, make a recommendation to the Board of Education no later than the first Board meeting in December. The Board will schedule and hold public briefings and public hearings on the proposed recommendation and any alternatives it wishes to consider, with a final decision coming no later than April 30, 2009.
