Police Taser deaf man with mental health problems
The latest Taser controversy comes from Alabama where a 37-year-old deaf man with learning difficulties was zapped with a stun gun when he failed to obey commands to leave a general store bathroom. Antonio Love was also hit with pepper spray. His family has filed a complaint against the officers involved in the incident.
Coming not long after cops in Australia fired on a man carrying petrol and a lighter, who was engulfed in flames, this incident will contribute to the mounting international debate about police use of Tasers.
Some tough coppers, eh?
So the guy can't hear what is being said to him, and isn't too bright to start with... therefore he gets sprayed with chemicals AND stunned with an electro shock device.
Well, I guess that's what he gets for not hearing! Serves him right, right tough guy cops???
Of course, these tough guy cops, whenever they get pulled over for speeding or drunk driving or have an altercation with a 3rd party while out of uniform they are ALWAYS quick to show their shield and worm their way out of charges. Then, they expect the law to be on their side.

The officers were 100 percent in the right. How were they supposed to know he was disabled; they're not psychic? It's the family's fault for letting the disabled man wander around unsupervised.

Janet -
Your comments reeks of ignorance. I'm a Deaf Person, and there are many ways officers can assess the situation better to find out if that person is disabled, regardless of disability. It doesn't take a brain surgeon, or even a psychic to know. However, his mental abilities comes into question, but we generally aren't going to stay home, being taken care of mommy and daddy. Some of us do have friends to visit, work to go to, even travel to other countries. Maybe he had to go to the bathroom really bad?
People like you should stay home instead of spouting baseless opinions - the world would be a better place for it.
