Swindon Playbuilder logoPlaybuilder is an exciting new project that Swindon Borough Council is working on in partnership with Play England and the Government.

Over the next two years, over £1.1m will be spent on refurbishing 22 play areas across the Borough of Swindon.

The sites that are selected will each have around £50,000 spent on developing challenging, innovative and exciting play areas, with elements of 'natural play' for children aged 8-13 years.

The Council will be working with local communities, children, young people and other organisations involved with play to ensure that Playbuilder delivers what is needed.

When it will Happen

The consultation and planning stage of the project began in April 2009.

During this summer, the Playbuilder team will be carrying out lots of public consultation to discover what local communities would like to see included in the project.

A special Love Parks event at Lydiard on Monday 27 July will focus on what children and young people would like to see in their new play areas throughout Swindon.

The first phase of building will see six play areas being refurbished before the end of 2009 and a further five sites before the end of March 2010.

How to Get Involved

There will be lots of opportunities for local communities to become involved, so please watch this space for updates.

For more information, or if you have any specific questions about Playbuilder, then please e-mail us at playbuilder@swindon.gov.uk.
