2009 Volkswagen Rabbit

Choose Volkswagen Rabbit Style:

C/D Overview:

The Rabbit replaced the Golf in 2007, thus reviving the name it wore when it made its debut back in the mid-'70s. Essentially a hatchback version of the Jetta sedan, it's solid, roomy, versatile, and responsive. Power is modest from the 170-hp five-cylinder engine, but it's still a driver's car.

Base Price: $17,000 - $20,040

Structural solidity, good control relationships, quality interior, attractive base price.

  • Lows

Some history of squeaks and rattles, check option prices before checking order boxes.

  • What's New

Redesigned for 2007; standard stability control, free trial Sirius subscription are new. iPod adapter discontinued.

  • Behind The Wheel

170-hp inline five is so-so, but precise steering and brisk responses make the Rabbit a pleasurable daily driver.
