Americans for Prosperity has always encouraged members to visit the district offices and attend town hall meetings of their senators and representatives, especially during this August break when issues like health care and cap-and-trade are at the peak of debate. Our 500,000+ members are concerned about the impact of the cap-and-trade energy tax and a government takeover of health care, and we have a variety of grassroots events going on around the country.

Our future and that of our children will be dependent on saving money, cutting back unnecessary expenditures and reducing our debt. We took our "Cost of Hot Air" tour back to Montana on Monday with anti cap-and-trade rallies in Helena and Bozeman with our seven-story-high hot air balloon emblazoned with our message: "Cap-and-trade means higher taxes, lost jobs and less freedom."

In Helena, almost 100 activists called Senators Baucus and Tester from our rally urging them to vote NO on the job-killing legislation that will be considered in the Senate after Labor Day. Then, well over 230 grassroots activists in Bozeman sent a strong message to the Montana delegation on cap-and-trade.

We’ve all heard the claims that conservatives don’t have any ideas on how to reform the health care system, that all they know how to say is no. Americans for Prosperity has been a prime target by those who contend that all we do is send “angry mobs” to townhall meetings to disrupt legitimate debate. The problem is none of it is true.
