A Few of My Favorite Things…

A few things I’ve run across that I don’t need, but really want.

A DIY Notebook Lunchbag that I could never DIY. But that is so how I feel about lunch.

A new and improved bookmark that marks not just the page, but where you left off on that page. Sure, it’s sort of a fancy rubberband, but it’s still fantastic.

    A Flip Cat Doll.

Etsy Find: The Bears and the Bees

I have to say that I love everything I found in Oh My Cavalier’s shop. Especially this original, framed drawing of a pair of bears who’ve sumbled upon some beehives.

And this print of a cat with jam, called Cat Jam. And, like I said, pretty much everything in the shop.

    Bad Chair Day

I think most everyone still has a set of these inexpensive wood-slat folding chairs sitting around in their garage. Or, if you’re me, you’re still sheepishly using them as your dining chairs after trying to disguise them with some colorful cushions.

But, a much more stylish solution would be to get a set of these stylish felt chair covers from Inbound Threads. They not only look great, they make those wooden slats a lot more comfortable as well.

    Napping Nooks

I could really go for one of these right about now. Via Desire to Inspire.

    African Fantasy

Italian furniture marker, Moroso, has partnered with African textile makers to create these amazing chairs. They’re like a cross between a tweed jacket, a Chanel suit, a patio chair and a Tim Burton movie. I’m absolutely enthralled. See more of their designs here.

    Zip Code

I love the sky-line print on this Zip Code pillow from CB2. I also love the fact that it’s made from reclaimed wool, which is technically just recycled wool fiber but I like to imagine means that some sheep had it’s coat repossessed.

    Back to School Baggage

I don’t know about where you live, but today was the first day back to school in my neighborhood. Incidentally, it was also the day our local school district did away with deep-fried school lunches. Forever. That means no more cheese sticks on Thursdays - my personal school week highlight. So I’m guessing that with the extra focus on health, a lot of moms will be packing sack lunches. And that means lots of snacks and sandwiches in plastic baggies that end up in the trash.

But, that doesn’t have to be the case. There are several companies out there making organic, reusable snack and sandwich bags in a multitude of designs. My favorites are these retro designs from Graze, which even include a bag labeled “surprise.” Read more about them here.

    Vintagey Recipe Book

If you’re a fan of vintage kitchen wares, check out this vintage-inspired recipe book I found over at Fred Flare. It reminds me of the cover of the old Betty Crocker I found in my grandmother’s recipe book collection. But more colorful. I also sort of wish that this design were available as wallpaper.

    Fan-tastic

I’m always attracted to the pop-art celebrity prints at Target, but I’ve resisted buying one because, well, I’m just not that big of a fan of mass-produced art work. I’d prefer to support local or Etsy artist. And, yes, I always like to think that my house is decorated with unique items, although that is most certainly not the case since half my living room furniture is from West Elm.

So, skip to today, when I ran across these celebrity prints from Lake Illustration featuring really fantastic color combinations - under $20 a piece. And they’re handmade, limited editions, too.
