NBA 2K10 is set to release October 6 and from the build I saw yesterday in NYC, it should continue the 2K franchise’s tradition of realistic, deep basketball sims.

We’ll start in the preseason. NBA 2K10: Draft Combine -- made available today -- is a downloadable game released a month before the full game hits stores, and only costs $5, or the equivalent in MS points on PSN and Xbox Live. I was told the DLC will have roughly 7 hours of gameplay, which is quite a bit of bang for your buck when you realize an average full action game can usually be beaten in that time. This content lets you create your own player and go through drills, summer league games, and scrimmages where, depending on your performance; your player earns skill points to allocate to his attributes. When you complete the Combine, your created player is available in the regular game in the NBA draft in the full version of NBA 2K10.

Here we are again with a new batch of screens and not much else. I don't know if I'm just out of the loop for this game, but I haven't been getting information other than screens. So, we'll just have to make due with what we have.

I'm sure we should be able to have some brand new information on the game soon. I can say this with confidence since our own Mike Sannitti is heading down to get some hands-on time with NBA 2K10 in NYC today. Look for his preview to pop up sometime between now and eventually.

Now, hit the jump for part 2.

As I noted in a previous post, the NBA is all about hustle. Three new gameplay videos have been sent to us to show  off how these new mechanics in NBA Live 10 actually look as opposed to the scripted demo videos.

I fully believe that the new hustle plays are going to make and break the game experience for me, while it is true that half of these plays will result in turnovers, there's an undeniable authenticity that goes with seeing a player screaming down towards the baseline to heave a prayer back into play.

Hopefully they'll allow players to accidently crush the overly zealous cameramen.

Codemasters decided to unload a ton of information regarding one of their next titles, Formula 1 2009. As you can see above, the Wii version is coming bundled with an F1 style "steering wheel" to simulate driving an F1 car, if it were invisible and weightless.

Moving on, the graphics aren't that great, but F1 2009 is being developed for the Wii and PSP. We can just consider this the little brother to the forthcoming next-gen version F1 2010 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. I'm already excited for this game as I haven't played a Formula 1 racing game since Super Monaco GP II on Sega Genesis, so the Wii version is already a huge upgrade for me.

This also marks the first release of an F1 game on multiplatforms since 2002 as Sony previously had exclusive rights to F1.

NHL 10's demo is set to hit the ice soon and it's going to be one heck of a package for a downloadable taste of the full game.

Included are several game modes, tutorials and different settings to play with which should really set it apart from the simple 2 minute demos put out by EA's footballers earlier this summer.

Well, Brett Favre fooled us again. After proclaiming his retirement a few weeks ago, yesterday we learn that Brett Favre has officially signed with the Minnesota Vikings for a two year $25 million deal. So what does this mean? This means the circus is over…for at least 2 years…maybe.

From a football standpoint, Favre’s inclusion on the Vikings makes for a good fit but it is still a gamble. Several current Vikings seem a little annoyed by the Favre circus, especially the QB who is now getting bumped into a backup role. Can Favre win them over and fix the team chemistry? On the Jets last year, Favre was doing decent before his injury, so, while nothing is guaranteed, he likely will be an upgrade in the QB position for the Vikings. He also has a solid running game with him and a domed stadium to keep him in ideal conditions. If Favre is going to succeed at age 40, it would be with the Vikings.

If you haven't read our coverage of NBA 2K10 Draft Combine up to this point and you had no idea Derrick Rose was named the spokesman, you'll want to know two things about this game right away.

  1. It's only downloadable via XBLA or PSN

  2.  It lets you take a created player from rags to riches by building him up and then importing him into NBA 2K10.

The trailer basically tells you the rest. Look for a review of Draft Combine early next week with a hands-on preview of NBA 2K10 to follow shortly after that. Video after the jump.

How many of you thought reality TV was a passing trend that would thankfully fade out of our collective consciousness and get lost in the ether of uncharted territories in the higher channels? I had hoped that was the case, but unfortunately recent trends indicate otherwise. These trends I speak of are the newer waves of 'CelebReality' programming that have Flavor FLAAAAAAV'ed their way into our hearts.  Reality shows are no longer just for washed up musicians, talent show contestants, and 'Real' Housewives of ______ (insert any City or State here).  Athletes are now getting in on the action.

Starting tonight at 9pm on ABC is Shaq's first reality series called "SHAQ Vs."

Already running on Monday's at 10pm on VH1 is The T.O. Show.

These networks certainly selected a couple of the most enigmatic and boisterous athletes around today to star in their respective shows, which ensures that there should never be any dull moments. There will be no shortage of charisma, but it may come down to the formatting of each show that determines which of the two is more successful.

I've always been a big fan of basketball video games, from the arcadey delights of NBA Jam, Hang Time and College Slam to the fantastic b-balling-sims brought to us by the 2k series since the days of the Dreamcast.  Just about the only game that comes to mind that I've never been insanely crazy about is the not quite arcadey, not quite a sim NBA Live series. All of that can change though with just one breakthrough year, could this be the year?

Unlikely.

Michael Vick is an Eagle.

Those words set off an insane reaction and buzz around the entire Philadelphia area Thursday night that hasn't stopped through the weekend. Rightfully so, as the argument for Vick's reinstatement versus his banishment from the league is one of the hottest issues since his release from federal prison and house arrest earlier this summer. So naturally, the National Football League's "Gold Standard" (their words, not mine), would jump at the chance to sign the biggest pariah in all of football.

There are plenty of view points on this issue, I'd love to know what everybody here thinks in a a forum of sorts here at GPSports.

Let's discuss after the jump, if you don't jump well enough, I will sick Vick on you.
