Hey. So I've been coming here for a while by www.touhouproject.com, and I was wondering where it went. eventually I found a thread poolshmer that informed me of the touhou-project.com domain. But, the thought occurs to me that if I didn't realize that the domain changed, probably a few other people didn't as well. Is it possible to set up a re-direct on the old domain?

We would, but apparently holy doesn't understand how to redirect it.

To cut a long, RAGE-filled story short, the reason that domains were switched is that the original owner of the site decided, basically, that he no longer wanted it. The transition between owners has been, by internet standards, smooth and amicable, but there have been problems, at the outcome at present seems to be that the previous owner still controls the old domain, and plans to redirect it anywhere are uncertain. To the best of my knowledge, however, dialogue is still being undertaken and this may change.

tl;dr ┐(´д`)┌

Personally, I think a little bit of advertising would be good, but not until all our writefags are settled in and back to their old update schedules. Another thread on pooshlmer and maybe even a topic on shrinemaiden (coupled with a wave of extra-spicy assholery by Anon, of course, to weed out those not well-suited to imageboard culture) should net us the majority of Touhou fans who care about this sort of thing.

Ah, I see. The reasons are political, not technical. disregard or use >>1471 as you wish then.

In addition to what >>1470 said, the owner of the domain basically stated, that he would redirect the domain to the new server. So far he has failed to do so, because he's an ignorant fucking moron who can't do anything right. At this point we're looking for volunteers who live in britain and are willing to commit murder.

Just FYI, a DNS redirect doesn't require an installer. Though it might be cool to have TouhouProject be compatible with a toaster oven. As a matter of fact, I think I'd be willing to wait for that.

Note to holy: Call the guys hosting the site. Ask them to redirect the domain for you. It's not that hard.

selfsage because I have nothing of worth to contribute to the discussion.

It depends on who owns the domain name. If holy owns it, it would not be legal to have it forwarded without his permission. Otherwise, yeah.
