At the 117th Session of the IOC, held in Singapore, the city of London is elected as the host of the Games of the XXX Olympiad. After leading on the first ballot, London fell behind Madrid on the second vote. London reclaimed the lead on the third ballot before defeating Paris by four votes on the fourth and final ballot.
