The Xbox 360 and PS3 have both enjoyed some high-profile price drops recently. Fully-loaded models of both systems are going to be hitting the market at a $300 price point this holiday season. So it begs the question: what's Nintendo going to do about this? According to Nintendo's Denise Kaigler, just keep selling Wii at the same old price they always have.

Wii has been the best-selling video game system in the United States for two years and counting. It offers the most fun and the best value for consumers. Wii can be played by every member of the family the moment it comes out of the box. It's the only console that offers the option of precision motion controls right now, with the Wii MotionPlus accessory. And Nintendo systems are the only place you can play new and classic Nintendo franchises.

This strikes me as a dangerous move-- at $300, parents who can't find a Wii might decide that a 360 or PS3 would suit them just as well. Of course, if Wiis are still flying off shelves this fall at the old $250 price point, then Nintendo will be laughing all the way to bank as usual.
