1 September 2009 - GoFish to go live
AFMA's online business facility, GOFish, is due to go live on 21 September 2009.
GOFish will enable concession holders and their authorised agents to conduct most of their licensing business with AFMA online, and at a reduced cost.
It will have the added benefit of allowing concession holders to not only view their quota position, but trade quota to other concession holders. GOFish's development has included extensive AFMA-wide and industry user testing.
Registration packs with application forms are currently being distributed to all existing Commonwealth fishery concession holders, and will also available on the AFMA website. To use GOFish, you will need to complete the registration forms to receive your user ID and secure password via email.
AFMA's existing online application for concession holders to view information on quota holdings, Quotaview, will cease operation and be replaced by the GOFish service - this means that all current Quotaview users will need to register for GOFish to continue to access information.
AFMA is proposing to hold a series of information sessions at ports to demonstrate the GOFish service.
Please ensure you complete the form included in the registration pack to indicate if and where you would like to attend a session.
For more information on GOFish registration or the information sessions, please contact AFMA Licensing on 1300 723 621.
1 September 2009 - Review of Resource Assessment Groups
On 29 June 2009, a workshop was held in Canberra to review AFMA’s Resource Assessment Groups (RAGs). There were 23 attendees at the workshop, including representatives from RAG Chairs, MAC Chairs, MAC Executive Officers, scientists, commercial fishers and relevant Government agencies. An independent facilitator was engaged to manage the workshop, prepare a discussion paper and prepare a report on the workshop outcomes. Key issues addressed by the workshop included the future role of the RAGs; RAG structures; expertise required to support future RAG work; and governance arrangements for RAGs.
A report on the workshop outcomes is located on the AFMA web site (www.afma.gov.au), and comments on the report closed on 2 October 2009.
The workshop report and stakeholder comments will be provided to the AFMA Commission for decision at its next meeting, scheduled for 30 October 2009.
