His teammates call him "Uncle Mike." Coach Dennis Erickson calls him one of the most instinctive college players he has ever been around.
Arizona State senior linebacker Mike Nixon isn't your typical linebacker. He is 26 years old, his enrollment into college delayed three years after he signed out of high school for $1 million as a third-round pick of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
"He's got the greatest house I've ever seen for anybody not on scholarship," Erickson said in the Arizona Daily Star last month.
