EAST HARTFORD, Conn. -- Connecticut 's Cody Endres, making a bid keep the starting quarterback job, threw for 289 yards and two touchdowns as the Huskies beat Rhode Island 52-10 on Saturday.

Tailback Jordan Todman ran for 70 yards and three touchdowns, while Andre Dixon added 98 yards and caught a touchdown for UConn (3-1).

It was the 94th meeting between the New England rivals, and UConn now holds a 51-35-8 advantage.

Connecticut's defense held Rhode Island (1-2) to just 148 yards of offense, and 66 of that came on a first-quarter touchdown pass from Chris Paul-Etienne to Ty Bynum.

Endres, who started his second game in place of the injured Zach Frazer, completed nine of his first 10 passes, and 23 of 30 on the day. The sophomore threw his first career touchdown pass less than 2 minutes into the game, hitting Dixon out of the backfield for an 18-yard score.

UConn cornerback Robert McClain had two interceptions, both in the first half. His first led to a 37-yard touchdown drive that consisted of three handoffs to Todman, and a 3-yard run that gave the Huskies a 14-0 lead.

Rhode Island, which came into the game with a turnover ratio of plus-7, stayed in the game in early by forcing turnovers. UConn fumbled the ball seven times, losing three of them.

The Rams' touchdown came after linebacker Matt Hansen knocked the ball out of Endres' arm on the Rhode Island 31.

Four plays later, Paul-Etienne found Bynum down the right side. When UConn's Jerome Junior missed on a diving tackle attempt, Bynum sprinted into the end zone for a 66-yard score.

Rhode Island's only other score came on a late 28-yard field goal from Louis Feinstein.

UConn used a 12-play, 60-yard drive in the third quarter to make it 31-7, after Todman ran it in from 2-yards out.

The Huskies put the game out of reach on their next possession on a 50-yard touchdown pass from Endres to freshman Mike Lang.

Running back Robbie Frey added two late touchdown runs, including a 54-yarder that gave UConn it's final points with just over 2 minutes left.

The Huskies are 8-0 against teams from the Football Championship Subdivision since moving into the Bowl Subdivision in 2003.

The game was the 122nd for UConn coach Randy Edsall, a new school record.
