Thanks Sam! I’ll be updating this page every week, and I’ll make a small news/blog post announcing the update when it gets done

Cool, is there any way we can add to the list if theres anything we know about?

No, not really lol. Is there stuff you know is coming out next week that isn’t listed here? This page is currently running off the same spreadsheet that’s powering the list+poll on the homepage. If we start finding that it isn’t reliable (blame it on Midtown Comics!) then we may start generating the lists differently =/

Sam: Owing to the vagaries of the distribution system, there’s often a discrepancy between when a book arrives at Midtown Comics versus when it arrives at Comicopia, Barnes and Noble, Amazon, etc. The actual release date seldom lines up exactly with the announced date.

@Katherine Dacey – So they get the stuff before Midtown? (Never heard of Comicopia — is that online or brick & mortar?) I think part of it also has to do with the fact that Midtown only updates its site once a week (with all the new comic releases). So even if they got some books in separate from the new comics from Diamond, they’d hold off posting them on the site til then.
Anyway, at this point I think the regular updating of this list is somewhat dependent on info/covers from Midtown, so until that changes maybe that should be mentioned more clearly?

Jon: Comicopia is a brick-and-mortar store here in the Boston area. That’s where I met Sam, actually! Sometimes they get Viz and Tokyopop stuff a week before Midtown; other publishers’ stuff sometimes gets there a week after it arrives at Midtown (like the HC edition of Black Jack). Go figure.
But yes, I do think we should make it clearer that we get our info from Midtown.

@Jon Haehnle – hehe, i never meant to call midtown unreliable.
I guess if you guys are thinking about changing the way we do this, let me know. I try and stay on top of the whole Viz releases (via there website) and also get the weekly comicopia newsletter. Eitherway, i’m still really pleased with how this is going.
