5FDPFive Finger Death Punch was formed in 2005 by Hungarian born guitarist, Zoltan Bathory.

Bathory established a lineup including Ivan Moody (vocals) - Jeremy Spencer (drums) - Matt Snell (bass) and Caleb Bingham (guitars) - and named the band "Five Finger Death Punch" - as a nod to Hong-Kong Kung-Fu cinema.

The band recorded their self-produced first album (The Way Of The Fist) with sound engineers Stevo "Shotgun" Bruno (Mötley Crüe, Prong), and Mike Sarkysian (Spineshank) in 2006.

The Mixing and Mastering duties were handed to former Machine Head, Soulfly guitarist Logan Mader.  After showcasing a couple of songs via Myspace and similar networking sites, the band instantly struck a chord with the underground metal community, and became a word of mouth phenomena.

Topping online charts and playing sold out shows, Five Finger Death Punch begun its rapid rise with their modern day metal. It wasn't long before one of the most powerful managements, "The Firm" (Korn, Limp Bizkit, Staind) took notice, and signed 5FDP to their artist friendly label Firm Music.

They released the already recorded album, The Way of the Fist, on July 31, 2007 via The Firm/EMI. (Caleb Bingham was replaced with Darrell Roberts of WASP in 2007 - and Darrell Roberts was replaced by Jason Hook (formerly of Alice Cooper) in 2009)

Their critically acclaimed debut album The Way Of The Fist broke into the Billboard 200 on its first week of release and had been called the "Cowboys from Hell for this Millennium" by prestigious magazines.

5FDPIn an unfriendly climate for metal, their hit single, "The Bleeding," went top ten against all odds and ruled the radio waves for an astonishing 8 months. Just as Billboard Magazine predicted, it became the concert anthem of 2007. When the video was voted MTV2's Headbanger's Ball TOP 5 METAL VIDEOS OF THE YEAR, it was just the icing on the cake.

In the following 18 months the band kept a militant touring schedule... staying out on the road with the likes of Korn, Disturbed, Slipknot, and Machine Head -- eventually worked their way up to become a true headlining act selling out venues across America.

During this time, they have torpedoed the rock charts with two more hit singles, and sold over 300,000 records... An impossibly long shot from a brand-new band with a self produced debut record.

Five Finger Death Punch entered 2009 as an International touring act, starting their Europe tour on Metal Hammer Magazine's "Defenders Of The Faith" festival with Lamb Of God and Dimmu Borgir. Finally, the European fans could see why Metal Edge calls them "the sound of violent exhilaration, giving contemporary metal a belligerent shove in an exciting direction."

5FDP is scheduled to return to the studio in April of 09' and begin working on their follow up record.

MUSIC INDUSTRY REVIEWS

† METAL HAMMER
"The name sounds like the latest Quentin Tarantino movie, and in reality Five Finger Death Punch do live up to the brutal nomenclature. As they show on their debut album, The Way Of The Fist this Los Angeles five-piece can mix up blood-letting riffs with roaring lyrical aggression. This is the sort of metal we wanna hear as the first decade of the new millennium starts to run out of parking space."

† KERRANG! KKKK

"New American metal behemoths lurch into view. Five Finger Death Punch are going to be a very big noise indeed. This is not an opinion but a fact."

† Decibel Magazine
"This just might be the tonic you need to restore your faith in, well, metal - The Way of the Fist aims squarely for the thrash-groove nirvana that many a band has chased ever since Cowboys From Hell, and actually hits the bulls-eye."

† Metal Edge Magazine
"An album with the potential to give metal a belligerent shove in a fresh, different direction."

† BillboardMagazine
"By the time the modern thrash band finishes the Family Values tour, this should be the concert anthem of 2007."

† Blistering Magazine
"This is easily the most impressive debut album of 2007 and is a likely contender for album of the year."

† Live-Metal.Net
"A number of bands (Shadows Fall and Trivium foremost among them) have harkened back to metal's glory days on their latest albums. None has done it as brilliantly as Five Finger Death Punch."

† The Gauntlet
"An album that easily nabs debut metal record of the year honors. This uncompromisingly aggressive album establishes Five Finger Death Punch as a major metal force to be reckoned with right out of the box."

† KNAC
"The new face of brutality! Straight ahead, full force metal with an unbelievable punch. Vocals that rival early Phil Anselmo's attitude and power."

† HardCoreSounds
"This album contains 10 tracks that will knock the air right out of your lungs and leave you stunned."

† About.com
"Five Finger Death Punch's musicianship and ferocity along with their melodic sensibility makes this a rock solid debut."
