Having joined the Tigers as a 16-year-old, John Leonard tasted instant success as he formed part of the City youth side that won the league and cup double in 2007/08.

His first choice position is in the middle of midfield, but he is also capable of playing right back and he continued to impress in both positions during 08/09. He was handed a professional contract at the end of that season.
