Westgate Bridge accused Arthur Freeman called ex-wife, hearing told

Milanda Rout | October 07, 2009

Article from:  The Australian

A MAN accused of throwing his four year-old daughter off Melbourne's Westgate Bridge allegedly told his ex-wife just moments before that she would never see their children again.

The Melbourne Magistrates Court this morning heard that Arthur Freeman, 36, rang his ex-wife shortly before he threw his daughter Darcey Freeman off the Westgate Bridge on January 29 this year.

“(He told her) say goodbye to your children, just say goodbye ... you will never see them again,” prosecutor Gavin Silbert told the court.

The first day of Freeman's committal hearing heard the unemployed computer programmer asked Darcey to climb into the front seat of their car before he grabbed her, got out of the stationary vehicle and threw her off the bridge.

The hearing continues this morning.
