DW Stadium - Facts & Figures

Wigan Warriors moved into the then JJB Stadium in 1999. The stadium is an all seater arena with a seating capacity of 25,138 (this was increased from 25,004 in December 2005 following building work), and it was built by Alfred McAlpine and completed in August 1999.

The Stadium was been built to the latest health and safety specifications and complies with the current guide to safety at sports grounds (green guide).

Seating Capacity

Boston Stand - 8206 seats and 24 disabled spaces
Springfield Stand - 6072 seats and 24 disabled spaces
South Stand - 5378 seats and 21 disabled spaces
North Stand - 5392 seats and 21 disabled spaces

In addition:
5 trackside disabled spaces are available in the North and South stands
16 trackside disabled spaces are available in the Boston and Springfield stands
Disabled Toilets and access ramps in all stands

Chairman’s Suite - 12 dining or 18 standing

Car Parking
There are 2000 car parking spaces and coach parking 30 - 40 coaches

There are 276 disabled spaces within the DW Stadium. All disabled seating has lift or wheel chair access ramps. There are also facilities for the partially sighted and blind.

Floodlight average lux levels are 1202

All 48 turnstiles are linked to the stadium’s ground management computer and have recently been upgraded to the Fortress GB access system

There are two refreshment kiosks in the oncourses of all four stands of the DW Stadium.

First Aid
There are two first aid points; the main first aid station is sited in the Springfield Stand. The second first aid point is located in the Boston Stand.

The Pitch
The pitch is 110 metres long by 68 metres wide.

Public Address System
The DW Stadium has a state of the art PA system that is linked to the scoreboard. The speakers are suspended from the roofs of all four stands. The system is capable of broadcasting both voice messages and music and is of a standard you’d expect from a new stadium.

Control Room
The DW Stadium has a designated control room fitted with a communications network linked to all areas of the stadium. It has a CCTV system lined to a bank of monitors in the control room and a computerized turnstile clocking system. It is also linked to the stadium’s PA network. The control room is sited in the West Stand of the DW Stadium and has a full view of the seating areas and playing surface.

Media Faciltieis
There are 10 radio commentary points, 60 press box seats with tables and electricity plug in points and a dedicated press lounges.

Television Facilities & Access
There is a full-length TV gantry, a designated TV Studio, a dedicated TV vehicle car park and cable ducting in to the DW Stadium.

Dressing Rooms
The DW Stadium has four designated changing rooms each with shower facilities and toilets.

Treatment Room There is designated treatment room in the tunnel area of the West Stand.

Doping Control Room
There is a dedicated doping control facility in West Stand of the DW Stadium adjacent to the tunnel area and principal home and away dressing rooms.

Electronic Scoreboard
The stadium has an electronic scoreboard capable of displaying messages, graphics and the match score. The scoreboard is situated on the back wall of the East Stand.

The DW Stadium is extremely well signposted from all major trunk roads leading into Wigan. The DW Stadium itself is clearly signposted. Each stand is clearly identified. The ticket office, car parks and entrance turnstiles are also clearly signposted.

Health & Safety
The DW Stadium is fully compliant with the guidelines laid down by the ‘Green Guide’. It satisfies all legislation regarding health and safety of a sporting venue.

There are 18 toilet blocks situated throughout all four stands in the DW Stadium.
