Bullet MNA joins; Cong councillors call off strike
With Indu Dhar Baurai assuming charge of office of the Mukhya Nagar Adhikari (MNA) in Municipal Corporation of Dehradun, Congress leader Harak Singh Rawat administered fruit juice to Congress councillor Ashok Verma who had been undertaking hunger strike to protest against the delay in assumption of charge by the official appointed MNA. It is pertinent to mention that Congress councillors in MCD had started relay hunger strike from August 31 to protest against the continued absence of the official appointed Mukhya Nagar Adhikari (MNA), which they alleged had hampered the working of MCD especially in the maintenance of civic sanitation.

Bullet Govt fails to improve medical services in hill districts
The State Government's attempt to establish Aayush services for improving medical health service in Uttarakhand has failed in the mountainous districts. It is pertinent to mention that officially the State Government has attempted to encourage the practice of traditional medical treatment systems including Ayurveda and Unani medicine systems since formation of Uttarakhand State. However, considering the incongruence between Government claims and existing conditions in most of the districts, the condition of traditional and alternative systems of medical treatment is yet to improve in the State.
