IMPLOSION OF HATE
IMPLOSION OF HATE
Is it possible we have been judged and found though less then perfect perhaps pushing our cart along a trail leading towards the high road; the high road we once built. My how our race down hill was ran. Sure we let them tie across our eyes fear. I too was angry but knew not at who, I too was scared but of what. Too many are now pushing their own cart load of hate and discontent, buckets of rage and boxes of ignorance, books full of past lies and rolled posters posturing as patriotism. It was indeed too easy chasing our load down hill; too fast among the ruts we were stuck within. Now as we look back at the wreckage piled below one must wonder why, one must ask how were we allowed to crash into each other, and also do we now bear scars never to be erased? Now our leader is awarded for peace amid the war only half won. Will we than offer only half measure or is it possible we join and offer in measure most full to empower our implosion of hate?

Our president was awarded the nobel peace prize not just for what he had done before he was nominated but for what he has done since then.
His committment to nuclear disarmament. His diplomatic approach to Iran and North Korea, Russia, and China.
I think this was not only a demonstration of their awarding and encouraging 'efforts' made to 'promote peace' (not for what 'has been accomplished'), I think this was probably also a message to all of those national leaders that are obstinate and prone to military action. I think they made a wise decision... to promote admirable qualities, views, and actions of one leader... as an example to and to send a message to the others.
I am proud of the president for much of what he believes and has done. I wish I knew what he knows so I could better understand some of his decisions and actions.
What other leader have you ever heard say
"This is the moment when we must renew the goal of a world without nuclear weapons"?

I actually have come round to the view that our President was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize because they were giving it to America itself in recognition of our turning away from the misbegotten policies of Bush/Cheney Republicanism.
And I am just fine with that.

I am sure the Peace prize community considered every angle we have discussed at the TPM cafe and I am just as sure they agreed with all our points of view. Let me tell you I am fine with that as well!
The real question my mind is what will/can President Obama do with the momentum provided?

ME TOOOOOOOOOOO. But our esteemed leader (is not that a nice sobriquet for a change?) has been sending out feelers, cues, hints....
And I should take time for some study on this, but I recall some talk about this more than a year ago and it was dismissed in the media. We have a fatherless man, a real African-American, a man with limited resources but with grandparents who gave a damn, a confused young man at times who ends up head of the Harvard Law Review. He shuns corporate slot he immediately would have and goes to Chicago--which is in my neighborhood so to speak--and learns how to deal with people from all walks of life.
Dealing with poverty, gangs, youth issues from the Reverend Wright side and also with the muckity mucks from whom he needs money to help with the transformation.
Then he writes books, fully open about his own sins and shortcomings...AND BECOMES PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. HA!!!
Now compare his travels and travails with the previous idiot born with a silver spoon in his mouth.
Sometimes there is a real reality when perceiving relativism. hahahahaah
Oh, sorry, on a rant of a kind here.

It was Obamas origins which is the foundation for my faith in his abilities to lead! Sure the silver spoon does not guaranty one will leave a bad taste in our mouth...

Oh, no, as rants go it was fine.
We are going to see things develop over the next few years, I am sure, and we will see how wisely we have chosen. Well, I suspect.
He's learned a lot in life, and come far, and all he asks of us is the same.
Are we up to it as a nation? As a people?

OG,
'Are we up to it as a nation? As a people?'
Sadly, I am not sure. It is not President Obama I have doubts about, but We, The People.
I could cite a thousand examples of why I have concerns, but sure you are already aware.
sigh.

That's too obvious. I sure there must be some dark, sinister and diabolical secret behind the decision...we just have to figure it out.

Your question:
" I wish I knew what he knows so I could better understand some of his decisions and actions."
I feel even more than before that we have chosen the best person for the challenges both America and the World face.
He may get kicked around a bit by the GOP but trust me he is a fast learner and I will not feel sorry for those who opposed his policies in this first part of his presidency; they will regret it!
You know, I was so proud of America for having elected the best person for the job. Now I am even more proud to be an American and not in the flag waving nut-ride fashion but as a member of the responsible world community.
