Shelton Quarles' Celebrity Waiter Night

Location:  Don CeSar Beach Resort, 3400 Gulf Blvd., St. Pete Beach

You can make an IMPACT!

Fifth Third Bank, The Don Cesar and 620 WDAE present this dinner and auction which supports the mission of the Shelton Quarles' IMPACT Foundation.  The foundation provides resources and opportunities to at-risk single parent families in the Tampa Bay area. 

The evening begins at 7:00 p.m. with a coctail reception, hors d'oeuvres and silent auction, followed by dinner at 8:00 p.m. and dessert and live auction at 9:30 p.m.

Tickets are $250 for an individual, $400 for a couple or $1,500 for a table of 8.  So gather your friends for your chance to be served by Derrick Brooks, Ronde Barber, Barrett Ruud or eveb Shelton Quarles.

Flan Fest

Time:  11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Location:  Centennial Park (8th Avenue and 19th Street), Ybor City

Seven years of sweet success!

Activities will be held for the entire family.  There will be live entertainment, shopping, food and flan sampling. 

Forty contestants will compete for the Top Flan in Tampa Bay.  Judging begins at noon and winners will be announced at 2:30 p.m.  There will be a winner in the traditional and non-traditional categories and it's not too later to enter.

Flan Fest is hosted by the Ybor City Saturday Market and sponsors include:  Bay News 9 en espanol, Bright House Networks, TECO Energy, Moffitt Cancer Center, Hillsborough County, City of Tampa, The Tampa Tribune, Centro Tampa and La Maxima.  The event is a fundraiser for the Saturday Market.

Hernando County Reading Festival

Time:  10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Location:  Nature Coast Technical High School, 4057 California Street, Brooksville

Reading can be fun!

Meet author Michael Sampson; author of "Star of the Circus," "Kitty Cat, Kitty Cat, Are you waking up?," "Chicka, Chicka 1, 2, 3" and more.  Plus there will be local children's authors on site.

There will be free fun for the whole family:

  • Character appearances (Spot the News Hound and the Chick-fil-A Cow)
  • Tony the Balloon Guy
  • Games, face painting, door prizes
  • Storyteller Windell Campbell
  • Bay News 9 Meteorologist Brian McClure
    Plus there will be a hot dog, chips and drink meal available for purchase for only $2.00. 

And get there early; the first 300 children will receive a goody bag.

SPCA Tampa Bay Animal Affaire Gala

Location:  Rutland/Farley Mansion, 5030 Sunrise Drive South, St. Petersburg

Come celebrate the SPCA Tampa Bay's 70th Anniversary and help the animals!

Enjoy an open bar, gourmet cuisine from Parkshore Grill and 400 Beach Seafood & Tap House.  There will also be a live and silent auction and live entertainment by Full Circle Band.

Formal/black tie attire is optional or you can pull your 70's clothes out of the closet and get groovy.

Bright Stars Senior Talent Show

Date:  Tuesday, February 9th

Time:  7:00 p.m.

Location:  Clearwater Central Catholic High School

Check out the local senior talent!

The Bright House Networks Bright Stars Senior Talent Show will be filled with great local talent.  Join us in the James B. White Performing Arts Center of Clearwater Central Catholic High School.  Tickets are only $6 and go on sale January 27th at the following Bright House locations.
