Lane Garrison gets a real Prison Break

28-year-old actor Lane Garrison has been released from California Correctional Institute after he was imprisoned in November 2007.

The Prison Break actor was sentenced to 40 months in state prison after pleading guilty to vehicular manslaughter for his role in a car crash in Beverly Hills that left a 17-year-old boy dead and injured a 15-year-old girl.

At the time of the crash, Garrison had cocaine in his system and his blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit of 0.08 percent.

Garrison, who played David “Tweener” Apolskis on the first and …

Prison Break in confinement

Some readers have been asking about the return of Prison Break on Seven.

The final batch of episodes will return in the US in just over ten days time, bringing the four series to a final conclusion.

TV Tonight understands Seven won’t be fastracking the episodes to screen, planning to program the drama in the Wednesday 10:30pm slot after Lost finishes.

Lost is expected to conclude late May.

There are six remaining hours of  Prison Break.

Matt Passmore lands FOX lead

Underbelly and The Cut actor Matt Passmore has landed the lead on FOX’s upcoming pilot Masterwork by Prison Break creator Paul Scheuring.

The series centres on an FBI agent (Passmore), a specialist in the acquisition of stolen art and a fine-arts expert who teams with an MI-5 agent (Natalie Dormer). Tom Ellis plays her fiance, a special agent at Scotland Yard.

The pilot, directed by Jeffrey Nachmanoff, will film in Prague.

Passmore landed the part after he was pitched to 20th Century FOX TV by an Aussie casting agent hired by 20th TV to …

Death becomes TV

Spoiler, spoiler, spoiler.

American shows are bumpin’ off characters left, right and centre.

Several will be major characters. While many are in yet to air season finales, one has already done so in an episode yet to air in Oz. And another will kill off a regular this week  in the US.

EW.com has put together a cluey little list, which details shows, hints at characters and even announces one definite (big spoiler there).

To help you figure out if it’s worth a visit or not, I’ll list the shows in question but no …

Fall season sounds dull already

Last year’s US Fall season really only produced one bonafide hit in the US: The Mentalist.

Oh how we long for the days that Desperate Housewives, Lost and Prison Break compelled us to the screens each week.

Now CBS says the next season looks tight.

Network CEO Les Moonves said, “The advertisers are nervous.

“They’re going to be locking their budgets in a lot later.”

And so, to cut costs, CBS is producing 6 fewer pilot this year compared with 2008. He says the network only has room for 3 or 4 new shows in its …

Hollywood says G’day to Aussiewood

The G’Day LA event takes place today (our time) in Hollywood, which is staged by our Aussie Trade honchos. It attracts the press, and some television names. So despite the fact their awards don’t appear to be voted by peers, public or critics, let’s rattle off the guest list anyway.

Rachel Griffiths (also in the press for expecting her third child) will receive an Excellence in Film and Television award, presented by her Brothers and Sisters co-stars Sally Field and Matthew Rhys.

Eric Bana is going to walk home with an Excellence in …

Prison Break to end

Sadly, here’s a decision I have to agree with.

FOX Network has decided the current fourth season of Prison Break is its last. But there WILL be an ending.

“We’ve got our remaining batch of four episodes and then there are a couple more we’re contemplating,” says network president Kevin Reilly,

He says the four-year old drama has simply run its course. “The show is played out.”

Alas, he’s right. Let’s face it, there isn’t even a prison in the latest series. The whole “scylla” chase is a baffling story-arc, not without its highs and …

Serial finales a love match

In a climate when programmers are frequently pausing shows mid season, and dropping them with little notice, it’s good to see Seven has managed to slate final episodes of several key shows as the tennis sets in on its schedule.

Heroes, Eli Stone, Ugly Betty and Prison Break will all wrap current seasons with finale episodes - a very important strategy for serial dramas. How well we all remember those two leftover Heroes episodes in 2007, as a result of the writer’s strike.

Prison Break’s (mid season finale) “The Sunshine State” airs 10:30pm …

TEN wins Tuesday

And now for some good news. TEN won Tuesday night’s ratings. Very convincingly.

TEN won with a 27.4% share over Nine’s 24.6% and Seven’s 24.1%. It was a complete turnaround from Monday’s lousy 16% share.

It’s been quite some time since the network won an evening, but as audiences sample new summer line-ups, it was a double repeat of NCIS that spearheaded the win. That’s bad news for those who are looking for new treats in summer, when the audiences tell the networks “we wants repeats, please.”

TEN took nearly 1.3m viewers in one …

Airdate: AC/DC Legends of Rock

It must be non-ratings time. Otherwise Channel Seven’s older audience might be in for a rude shock when they get a rock special on one of Australia’s legendary bands, AC/DC on 9:30pm Wednesday December 17th.

Then again the band’s following is probably 40+ these days anyway.

The half hour special pushes The Unit and Prison Break back to 10 and 11pm.

Get ready to rock.

Synopsis:  AC/DC Legends of Rock. MOLLY MELDRUM hits the road with AC/DC as their new album roars to the top of the charts. Includes behind the scenes footage, rare …

Prison Break telemovie?

News of an additional two hours for the current season of Prison Break raised speculation the show could be headed for the bin. But while that hasn’t been ruled out, there is now a second theory: a telemovie.

“FOX was very happy with how the 24 movie turned out and they are interested in us doing something similar,” a source who works on the show tells EOnline.

However while the studio that produces the show is looking into the possibility of making an extra two hours FOX hasn’t necessarily agreed to buy and/or …
