PORT STEPHENS

From Bombah Broadwater in the north to Kooragang Island in the south; and from Raymond Terrace in the west to the New South Wales coast in the east (inclusive of all islands lying off the coast of the district).

Boundary Description

Commencing at the intersection of Ten Mile Road and the generally northern boundary of Port Stephens Council, gazetted 13th November 1970: and bounded thence by that boundary generally north-easterly and generally south-easterly to the Pacific Highway; by that highway, generally north-easterly to Split Yard Creek; by that creek, and its prolongation, downwards to the mean low water mark of the right bank of Nerong Creek; by that mean low water mark, downwards and the mean low water mark of the generally south-western and south-eastern shores of Bombah Broadwater, generally southeasterly and generally north-easterly to the western prolongation of the northern boundary of Lot 2, DP 568487; by that prolongation, boundary and its prolongation, easterly to the mean low water mark of the shore of South Pacific Ocean; by that mean low water mark (except at the entrance of any river, creek or inlet of the sea where the boundary shall be a straight line connecting two points on the shore opposite the outermost headlands at the entrance of any such river, creek or inlet of the sea) generally south-westerly to the generally northern boundary of the City of Newcastle, gazetted 3rd November 1978; by part of that boundary, westerly to the mean low water mark of the left bank of North Channel of Hunter River; by that mean low water mark, downwards to Stockton Bridge; by that bridge westerly to the mean low water mark of the right bank of North Channel of Hunter River; by that mean low water mark, downwards and the mean low water mark of the left bank of South Channel of Hunter River upwards to Troule Street; by that street southerly and Industrial Drive generally south-easterly, Vine Street, southerly and Hanbury Street and its prolongation, south-westerly to the Main Northern Railway; by that railway, generally north-westerly to a canal from Hexham Swamp to Purgatory Creek; by that canal and Purgatory Creek downwards to the mean low water mark of the right bank of Hunter River; by a line north-easterly to the mean low water mark of the left bank of Hunter River; by that bank and Williams River upwards to Seaham Road; by that road and William Bailey Street, southeasterly, Adelaide Street and Pacific Highway, generally north-easterly and Ten Mile Road, aforesaid, generally north-westerly to the point of commencement (inclusive of all islands lying off the coast of the district above defined).
