TALLAHASSEE, Fla., Feb. 21 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, Americans for Tax
Reform (ATR) President Grover Norquist, together with Rep. Gayle Harrell
(R-Port St. Lucie) and Sen. Rhonda Storms (R-Brandon), held a press conference
to champion greater transparency in state and local government spending.

The legislative effort to expand transparency into the Sunshine State's
finances is being led by Rep. Harrell (HB 181) and Sen. Storms (SB 392). "This
legislation gives taxpayers the ability to know exactly how state and local
governments are spending their money. It's just that simple," said Rep.
Harrell.

The current House and Senate legislation will become more comprehensive to
ensure that all state spending information is accessible and searchable in a
single website.

"This legislation increasing transparency in government spending has passed in
a number of different states and is a growing trend in America," added ATR's
Norquist.

Sen. Mike Haridopolos (R-Indialantic), chairman of the Senate Taxpayer
Protection Caucus, also supports the effort to empower taxpayers.
