Carlin team restructured for 2010

The Carlin Motorsport team has been restructured following a major investment into the organisation by Capsicum Motorsport.

Team boss Trevor Carlin sought a partnership to secure the long-term future of his team, which won this year's British Formula 3 title and also contested the F3 Euro Series and Formula Renault 3.5.

Carlin today announced the deal with Capsicum, a company established by Grahame Chilton - father of British Touring Car racer Tom and British F3 racer Max, who drove for Carlin in British F3 this year.

The team will now be known as just Carlin and will enter Formula 3, Formula Renault 3.5 and the new GP3 series next season.

"I'm delighted to have secured the backing of Capsicum, which has allowed me to continue to do the thing I enjoy most – creating winning teams," said Carlin.

"I am especially excited about our prospects in 2010 coming off the back of such a great performance in 2009.

"Our entry into the new GP3 series creates fresh challenges and opportunities for us and I am already looking forward to the first races."

Capsicum's managing director, Rupert Swallow, added: "We have been very impressed by Carlin's ability to produce winning teams in F3 and FR3.5 and we are excited by the prospect of creating this new joint venture."
