METRO VANCOUVER - A right foot found recently found on a Richmond beach belonged to a dead man from the Lower Mainland who had been reported missing nearly two years ago, the RCMP said Thursday.
It was the seventh foot to be discovered on BC's shores in the last two years.
The BC Coroners Service used DNA analysis to determine that the foot belonged to a 25-year-old man reported missing in January 2008.
Investigators said the death is not suspicious based on the circumstances of his disappearance and his personal history. The RCMP withheld the man's name at the request of the family.
Two men walking on the beach Oct. 27 found the foot inside a size 8.5, white Nike running shoe.
The RCMP, Delta Police Department and Coroners Service are still working to determine the identities of other feet.
Investigators determined in December 2008 that two feet found in Richmond belong to the same woman.
Investigators determined in July 2008 that two feet found on Valdez Island and Westham belong to the same man.
A man's right foot was found on Gabriola Island in August 2007 but his left foot hasn't been found.
The feet appear to have naturally separated from the body, the RCMP said.
Details on remains are kept in a provincial database until identification is determined.
