The British Red Cross cares for vulnerable people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are.

The head of territory communications leads a team of three specialists in Marketing, Media Relations and Internal Communications. The postholder’s work will also reflect the increase in the British Red Cross’ advocacy and influencing activity. The role covers London, plus 14 surrounding counties which are divided into five areas for management purposes, and also involves working closely with the national communications team, including being a member of its management team.

There is huge scope to our communications work and the influence we aim to have on our primary audiences, adding immense value to Red Cross operations, with a clear line of sight to positive change for our beneficiaries. The special status of London as a global capital makes it essential that the positioning of local stories, relationships and advocacy in London fits seamlessly with the organisation’s national and international positioning.

The ideal candidate will have experience of managing communications strategies from inception to evaluation, managing crisis communications, consulting with and influencing senior managers and managing a team of communications professionals.
