Who We Are

The specific objectives and purposes of Throwaways' include raising funds in order to facilitate our goal of increasing the quality of life of our domestic and wild animal population by providing education, medical services, and an improved habitat for them. Because we are small, we concentrate on spaying and neutering Feral cats and establishing safe colonies with dedicated caretakers. Your tax deductible donations are always welcome. 100% of your donation goes to food or medical care. Please remember your support is desperately needed.

Adoption Process

If you are interested in adopting, please call Kathy at 240-776-4180 or Heather at (301) 535-7139 or (301) 885-0025. We request a $125 donation for one cat and $200 for two. You may download a copy of our adoption application and contract for your review. We also have barn cats available if you can provide a warm barn and provide dry cat food on a daily basis.

Transporting Feral Cats to the Clinic

We will plan to transport feral cats to clinics on these days. Trappers must have the cats to us no later than the night 9pm Saturday night.

Your Help Needed

We are continuing to progress on our animal sanctuary and have constructed one relocation building and 12 cat shelters on site. We plan to start relocating feral cats to the sanctuary in Spring 2007. Money is desperately needed so that we can have electricity. We also need volunteers to clear paths and level gravel for the road.

How You Can Help

Even if you are not ready to adopt a pet from Throwaways’ you can still make a difference! By sponsoring a pet, you will help Throwaway’s cover the cost of providing much needed veterinary care and daily housing for homeless animals.
When a cat arrives at Throwaways’, it is sterilized, provided a routine medical exam and tests, vaccinated, treated for any illness or injury the cat may have. In addition to necessary veterinary treatment, we also provide a high standard of care to each pet that enters our organization.  Placing a newly rescued pet in an approved foster home means our fosters are responsible for the costs of high-quality food, grooming, behavior-modification and other needs.  We utilize our volunteers' homes to house our rescued pets because we believe they need a stable environment to recover from shelter life and be ready to enter their new forever home environments.
Clearly, we need your help!
Once you open your heart by sponsoring a rescued cat, we will notify you when your sponsored cat has been adopted and depending on your level, you will receive web site recognition for your support!
