22/11/2009 - Update on Calva Bridge, Workington
Police can confirm that they are monitoring Calva Bridge, Workington closely as the structure seems has shown signs of further strain following the floods. We continue to ask the public to stay away from the area. Under no circumstances should people try to cross this bridge.
There is a risk that the bridge may collapse.
If this happens then Utilities in the area will be affected. We would like to advise the community to have torches, mobile phones, waterproofs, water, radios with batteries, medication and other essential items at hand.
Under no circumstances should people try to cross the following bridges, and care should be taken on all bridges in the area.
