November 24, 2009 - Ubisoft announced this morning Assassin's Creed II has sold 1.6 million copies worldwide in its first week at retail, according to the company's internal estimates. That total represents a 32 percent increase over the first title, which launched way back in November 2007.
Ubisoft also points out the original Assassin's Creed remains to be the fastest selling new video game property ever, but Altair can't even swim in that game, so we've moved on.
IGN's own David Clayman spoke highly of Assassin's Creed II, saying "This is one case where the sequel has triumphed over the original by catching the gameplay up to the already excellent visuals."
