New Report: States Failing to Compensate the Exonerated

After serving decades in prison for crimes they didn’t commit, many exonerees receive no help at all from the government. Calvin Willis, left, was exonerated through DNA after serving 21 years in prison. He waited six years before he finally received about $9,000 for each year he served. A new Innocence Project report explores problems with the system and offers a path to reform.
