Wicket pics, Graham

'ERE, ash a nice picture . . . England Twenty20 star Graham Napier is pretty handy with a camera as well as a bat.

So Sony Ericsson have snapped up the Essex star to play with their 8.1 megapixel C905 Plus Cyber-shot™ phone to take some behind-the-scenes pictures.

Have a look at some of his efforts here: From the left: Graham turning up for training, England stars warming up at Lords, Graham with ex PM John Major, and former Wimbledon coach Joe Kinnear. Let's hope he captures one of England winning the Ashes.

Gadgits joins Radio 1 gaming weekend

GADGITS has been invited to take part in Radio 1’s Big Gaming Weekend over the Bank holiday—by providing our list of top video games of all time.
Games Editor Owen Anslow has searched every level of his gaming soul to bring millions of listeners his definitive list.
He’s one of the panel of industry experts selecting their top 100 games which listeners will whittle down to a top twenty.
And we’ll be featuring our TOP FIFTY in the paper on Sunday.
The results of BBC Radio 1 & 1Xtra’s online poll will be revealed on Monday at 7pm in Mistajam's simulcast.
It’s the highlight of the weekend which kicks off tomorrow with Scott Mills at 6.30am on Radio 1.
Over the weekend the legendary Live Lounge will be transformed into the ultimate gaming arcade where DJ's will slug it out one game at a time for glory.
And listeners can check out the leaderboards online.
Then, all day on Bank Holiday Monday, starting in Scott’s show you can sample the top choons from gaming soundtracks — chosen by both listeners and DJs.
Jo Whiley will be joined by games guru Johnny Minkley. At 1pm, Fearne Cotton and Aled Hayden-Jones host a special gaming surgery with tips and even the odd cheat.
Greg James will continue cranking up console classics you’d forgotten you’d even heard between 4pm and 7pm before handing over to Mistajam's simulcast for the ultimate countdown of BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra's poll of the greatest ever computer games.

Wii games come of age

When it was launched three years ago the breakthrough Wii console was hailed as a move away from hardcore shoot-em-ups to more mainstream sports activities.

The key was, and still is, motion control that lets you use real-life actions to play games and benefit from exercise.

And the Wii is now often the centrepiece at family parties where three generations, from gran to the kids will join in.

Secret Sky 3D Keane gig

Tomcrop SKY TV gave another demo of their 3D system last night with a live broadcast of top band Keane.
Not having seen the Sussex band since 2004, when they had huge hits with Somewhere Only We Know and Everybody's Changing, my first thought when I saw singer Tom Chaplin on screen was that 3D must trim pounds off you becasue he looked really slim.
But then when I went next door into the main Abbey Road studio and saw him performing live, I couldn't tell the difference between him and the image on Sky's 3D screen. He really has lost a lot of weight.
The band were really on form and Tom even agreed to pose for this picture in 3D glasses. Trouble is, it looks like you need 3D glasses to view it properly.
But the 3D broadcast was very impressive, except when Tom veered towards the camera. It looked like the end of his mic was coming out of the screen. With the right direction, if 3D effects for their own sake can be avoided, this medium is bound to catch on.
It really does offer an added, er, dimension to the entertainment.
We met Tom's mum in the crowd, who travelled up from Sussex for the historic event.
She told us that Tom's dad, an aid worker, would be watching the gig in Rwanda on the simultaneous webcast of the gig.

Twitter texts free on Vodafone

Vodafone customers can save cash by sending free texts to Twitter.
From today customers can send text messages to a short code (86444) for “tweets”, @replies.
And they’ll be able to receive text messages from people they choose to follow via SMS on Twitter.
These text updates will be free of charge for the first few weeks.
But all text message updates sent FROM Twitter will remain free of charge.
“We are delighted to be the only operator in the UK today to offer Twitter on SMS to our customers,” says Vodafone Internet boss Al Russell.
“Since we made social networks on the move both simple to use and great value, customers have flocked to using these services which have exploded in popularity.”
When receiving a text message from Twitter with a URL, customers will be able to click on the link and access the webpage directly from their mobiles.
Since Vodafone UK included mobile internet in the price plan giving customers unlimited access to mobile internet, social networks have topped Vodafone’s popularity charts for the most visited sites on mobiles.
