Training

LASC offers both regularly-scheduled group classes and hands-on training for individuals or small groups. Please use the contact form to register for all classes.

Regularly Scheduled Classes

 LASC NRO New Researcher Orientation Session click here
  • This introductory session with facility tours is required for access to the animal facilities.
  • Use the above link to access dates and times.
  • Pre-registration is required as space is limited.
  • Cut off for registration is noon time the day before Orientation.
W-9 Rodent Barrier Orientation
  • This orientation session is required for access to the W-9 rodent barrier facility.
  • If you are attending the New Researcher Orientation Session, W-9 rodent barrier will follow right after.
  • If you have already attended a New Researcher Orientation Session, you will need to to register. We will contact you with a date and time.
670 Albany Street Barrier Facility
  • This orientation session is required for access to the 670 Albany Street facility.
  • The LASC office will contact you to schedule an appointment for the orientation and training session

Customized and Special Training

BL2 Biocontainment Suite
  • This orientation session is required for access to the Biocontainment facility. This training session is offered twice a month. Please check our web site Events Calendar bottom right for next training date.
Training in animal handling and biotechniques (bleeding, injection, anesthesia, aseptic surgery)
  • If you or you lab members need training in any aspect of animal use, we have AALAS learning library and TRAINING RESOURCES web page with slide shows and videos on various procedures. We also offer hands-on wet lab training by our training coordinator, on injection techniques, anesthesia and aseptic surgery are done on an as needed basis. Check Events Calendar bottom right for next Posting date on Rodent Handling/ Euthanasia session and Rodent Survival Surgery Training. Click on events for time and location.
Nonhuman Primate, Herpes B Training
  • This training is required for access to the NHP area or working with NHP tissues.
  • The LASC office will contact you to schedule and setup appointments for training or check events Calendar at bottom right for next posting date on Herpes B virus training session. Click on event for time and location.
