Central Library Exhibitions

The second in a series of exhibitions of material from the Science Museum Library in Wroughton is now on show on the Second Floor of the Central Library. The theme is Wiltshire maps and the exhibition includes two beautiful books of old maps – “Cary’s new and correct English atlas” and Thomas Davis’s “General view of the agriculture of Wiltshire: drawn up and published by order of the Board of Trade and Internal Improvement”. The exhibition will run through to the beginning of September to be followed by “The Year of Astronomy

Future exhibitions from the Science Museum over the next six months include, The Year of Astronomy, The Earliest Railways and The Horse Depicted.

Local and Family History Presentations - September to December 2009, Central Library

The following presentations will take place at the Central Library. They are all free, but seats should be reserved at the Swindon Collection Help Point on the Second Floor or ring 01793 463238

Archivists visits to Swindon Library

Following the recent opening of the new Wiltshire and Swindon Archives at Chippenham, the monthly visits of the Archivist to Swindon Central Library have recommenced. On the following Mondays between 10.00am and 12.00 noon an Archivist will be available for free consultations to give advice to researchers in Local and Family History. Come along and discuss your research with an expert.
