Look ahead to ADVENTURE COMICS #8

We pride ourselves on being able to answer your questions about upcoming storylines and such, and we’re able to do that here. Many of you have been wondering what the plan is for ADVENTURE COMICS immediately after writer Geoff Johns and artist Francis Manapul swing over to Central City to take over FLASH. Well, we’ll tell you! Or, better said, ADVENTURE COMICS Assistant Editor Wil Moss will tell you. Take it away, Wil:

ADVENTURE COMICS #8 is the start of a four-issue arc connecting ADVENTURE to the next big Superman story - “Brainiac & The Legion of Super-Heroes.” James Robinson & Julian Lopez will provide a 10-page story about the Legion members who are in the 21st Century; Sterling Gates & Clayton Henry will provide a 10-pager about the Legion in the 31st Century; and Eric Trautmann & DC newcomer Pier Gallo (wait till you see this guy’s stuff!) will provide a 10-pager about General Lane’s Human Defense Corps.

The Superman writers have crafted a really fun and epic story in “Brainiac & The Legion of Super-Heroes” (which will run in ADVENTURE, SUPERMAN, SUPERGIRL and a tittle-to-be-named-later in March). Featuring Superman, Supergirl, Superboy, Mon-El and the Legion of Super-Heroes, it not only brings to a head all the Legion subplots that DC has been laying down since the JLA/JSA “Lightning Saga” story, but also sets the stage for this summer’s blockbuster Superman event!

Thanks, Wil. And, as promised, here’s the cover to ADVENTURE COMICS #8 by Francis Manapul with colors by Brian Buccellato - the sketches, the inks and the colors.

that’s a good looking cover…but i still wish this was staying a “Superboy” book

    Sensor Girl is Back!! :D

This is some good squishy can’t wait to get my hands on it. I loved the lightning saga. It was genius…especially as Wally returned in the end

  4. JoseG says on :

Perhaps the “…title to be named later in March” is a new Legion ongoing and Adventure will focus solely on Superboy

    SWEET…Long Live the Legion!

  6. heffison says on :

I’m still not sure if Superboy will be involved enough for me to stick with Adventure after this issue, but the Legion stories could be fun. I’m not a fan of General Lane and his crowd, but maybe this book will stay more on the periphery of Lane’s story.

It certainly is time for Conner to make more of a mark in the Superman family books.

    *happy dance*

Now, about the true love of Supergirl and Brainiac 5. This has long been swept under the rug and I would hope Sterling is in the mind to rectify it.

Jose, I think you have it the wrong way around, I think the March book may be ‘Superboy’, Adventure is all Legion’s!

  10. querldox says on :

But wait…wait is with Sensor Girl’s costume. Its meant to be sexless, that was the point and what made it a little special.

  11. Ricardo says on :

I wish Francis and Shooter were allowed to have finished their run properly. We would have a much better story than Legion of 3 Worlds, definitely.
And it is a good thing that at least something will wrap up after the mess of the Lightning Saga and L3W, which were nothing but a long, tedious story about everything but the Legion.
I doubt Superboy will continue on Adventure Comics. He will likely be the star of the new Teen Titans. Adventure Comics will either be solo Legion or be an anthology as it should. Legion should have its own title pronto.

querldox beat me to the comment about Sensor Girl’s outfit. It just seems exploitive, like “they won’t know it’s a female character unless I draw in some exposed cleavage.”

  14. theray says on :

Thrilled to see more work by Eric Trauttman! He’s been doing a fantastic job on The Shield, and his JSA vs Kobra was really good.

    I’m looking forward to this.

Note to self: Don’t skip a day reading ‘The Source’

I almost didn’t check the site today, thinking there wouldn’t be anything eventful - boy, am I glad I did check!

This is HUGE! All the Legion sub-plots will be revealed.
They already revealed one in SUPERMAN this month: the guy that appeared to be hitting on/flirting with Mon-El, was actually Matter-Eater Lad…I thought it was just a gay-guy that had a thing for Mon (which would have been perfectly cool), but it turned out to be Matter-Eater Lad…I didn’t know he went back too! This is so much fun having the Legion back in the 21st Century.

That cover is AMAZING…I like the variant with the Daily Planet in the background…I might have to get both though!

I’m a little disappointed that Superboy is kicked off Adventure Comics, but I am a little interested in this upcoming Legion story. Besides this might give Superboy time to rejoin the Teen Titans.
