Season opens with record-tying 83 international players
The start of the 2009-10 NBA season will mark 83 international players from 36 countries and territories on official rosters (active and inactive), matching the record of international players on opening night rosters (2006-07). Twenty-seven of the 30 teams have at least one international player.

U.S. Olympians Carlos Boozer, Chris Bosh, and Dwight Howard will headline Basketball without Borders 2009 it was announced today by the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the International Basketball Federation (FIBA). Basketball without Borders (BWB) is the NBA and FIBA’s global basketball development program that uses the sport to create positive social change in the areas of education, health and wellness. The camps will be held in Beijing, China, Mexico City, Mexico and Johannesburg, South Africa.
The National Basketball Association (NBA) announced it will play its first-ever game in Taipei when the Denver Nuggets and Indiana Pacers tip off at the Taipei Arena on October 8, 2009. Taipei will become the seventh Asian city to host an NBA game, following Beijing, Guangzhou, Macao, Shanghai, Tokyo and Yokohama.
NBA will return to Beijing when the Denver Nuggets and the Indiana Pacers tip off at the Wukesong Arena on Oct. 11. The game will mark the opening of the refurbished Wukesong Arena, formerly known as the Beijing Olympic Basketball Arena. This will be the NBA's eighth preseason game played in Greater China and the third game played in Beijing.
The adidas NBA 5 United Tour is a grassroots event combining outdoor 5-on-5 tournaments with pick-up games and interactive basketball elements. The event tips off in Athens, Greece, June 20-21, before traveling to Madrid, Spain, June 27-28; Rome, Italy, July 4-5; Istanbul, Turkey, July 11-12; and culminating in London, England, September 12-13.

The third consecutive Korea Development Camp, co-organized by the Korean Basketball League (KBL) and the National Basketball Association (NBA), will take place at the Yangjae Seoul Education & Culture Center in Seoul, Korea from May 21 to 24, the KBL and the NBA announced.
